    Hi all,

New here and have a totally noobe question, so please dont eat me alive

Have brought my first HD its a 2009 XL sporty custom.  Looking at putting on VH twin slash 3" slip ons.  Ive looked around this forum and have spoken to a few people unfortunatley I get diiferent answers.   So if I get these slip ons should would I need to get the quiet baffles ?  also do I need to upgrade the air intake ?

    Cheers

Pends, (by the way this sorta topic is frequently discussed so don't stress), Ask the dealer if it`s legal...If u frequently ride in the city (Melbourne) it "might" pay for you to get it quieter as the EPA here are dogs and will fine you over 700 dollars for the first offence... you can still get done out of the city, but there is less chance as they need to have the whole set up with mics on the side of the road to "get" you. Most of the time you just get an inspection notice anywhere else, then you change to a legal set before you go in to get checked. Or if you dont care and can risk it, the louder pipes are heaps better and will make it so you don't get side swiped by someone in a car not noticing you are beside them.
    food for thought.... discuss...:)

Thanks for replying. Not Melb but country Vic. Didnt buy from a dealer tho he HD dealer is willing to get them in for me. I wouldnt think there legal, was under the impression that anything other then stock wasnt ? Do you know how loud there would be ?

In Melb the EPA DOGS have been sitting near harley city in Sydney road alot of the time and pinging everybody on harleys and going right through the roadside test (not just those fanging it). Any pipes other then the ones that you had on when u got the roadworthy are going to be too loud to be legal.... this said, I have louder pipes on my bike to improve performance, enjoyment and safety. Was just saying to make you aware in case you wern't. Like Hilly said, if u are in country vic and aren`t acting like a dickhead you should be fine..I`ve never been done there (BacchusM)
