Hey there, I recently fitted a set of HD drag bars to my 2014 iron, I'm having an issue with the brake line sitting hard on the top of the strut, it's not an imminent problem but I'm just worried over time it may wear through from vibration or something stupid... Anyone had experience with this at all? I don't want to rotate the controls front/back cos then it'll all be and an unridable angle :/ is there another brake line with a different banjo fitting on it available any one knows of??

    Cheers,

    Tom

Replace with brake hose with a braided type, and another good upgrade while your playing with brakes fit a XR1200 front caliper for much better braking. Dont take any chances with brakes.

When I spoke to my dealer he said that if I put on drag bars I wouldn't need to get any lines redone, but obviously if the above is true this is looking like a porky. Can you confirm?

You dont have to change it, but its not the right way to do things. If HD designed it with drag bars i bet that brake hose wouldn't look like it dose now. The integrity of the brake hose will be compromised the way it is now. I would hate to be the person responsible for fitting the bars if/when that brake hose fails.

    Regards Andrew.

I figured as such Terror, thanks for the reply.

Also, sorry to hijack your thread OP, but I find that the stock bars on my iron 883 give me pain in the inside of my left elbow when riding for any length of time. Would going to drag bars help or do I need to go more like mini-apes in your opinion?

You need to bend your elbow a little, holding your arms straight out will give you that pain, bar choice is dependant on the persons height, arm length, riding style etc....

I find the drag bars more comfortable than the factory ones, I didn't think I would tbh but yeh... I do!! Haha... Apes seem the be the bar for comfort I guess, puts you in a more reclined position, guess I'll have to hunt down some braided lines!

'14 Sporty, Mine has been curved toward the risers and doesn't rub anywhere.also less noticable, maybe you could move yours to avoid any rubbing untill you get new hoses?
