Hi.... Whats the normal oil consumption on a stock 103 motor thats been run in and ridden pretty normaly not up it all the time? The bores were honed about 3 or 4 weeks ago during the re-install of the stock pistons replacing the SE hi compression ones that were in it. The motor has 7 thousand ks on it from new.
Thanks
thanks, How does the air cleaner make the bike use oil? I have a heavy breather. I was led to believe that a new motor or a honed and re-ringed motor will use oil till it beds in after a thousand ks or so.....Oh from 7 thousand Ks it should use SFA oil?
speedy is right , bores bored and honed ,with correct stones will run in with in 100 ks or 1 hr running at most loads last , , the 103 pison is very short in lenght compared to bore diametre, so stabilty not good as say 3..500 bore , 4.250 stroke evo , oil burning over time is normal , valve stem seals wil also allow oil usage with out showing blue smoke signs from pipe , i dont run my own engines for longer than 1/2 hr light oil , new filter ,and then tuning and full noise begins , havent had any oil burning issues , then penrite hpr 30 oil for rest of services , no eng isssues in last 18 months , 35 eng builds in that time , 8000 ks to much , 5000 is what i consider to be limit , just my thoughts , your eng , do as you like , cheers
there is getting to drugs on this site LOLO
My 103 didn't like syn3? Used a couple hundred mills, per 1000km from the start. Switched to standard HD360 mineral oil at about 3500kml and not a dtop used between 4000km services since? Bizarre, yep, but that's the truth. Now at 21000km and doesn't use a drop. All highway kays thiugh???
Good luck, hope you find a fix.
Mine tends to use more around town riding, Not long ago did 4000 k's in 5 days and used maybe 2-300 ml. Can't comment on the difference between Synthetic and mineral. Only ever used mineral. too much witchcraft in synthetics lol.
You're probably right on the paranoid bit, The harder ya look the more you see even if it's not there.
