Well it had to happen. Only surprise here is they went a smaller 64" engine to take on the sportster as opposed the 111" thunder stroke. Water cooled too. I gotta say, it's actually pretty schmick.
They're never going to capture a critical mass with the retro themed Art Deco models, I guess this is their way of getting a foot in both camps. 1100cc v-twin cruiser with a bit of pedigree, watch the the trendy hipsters froth at the mouth. They'll definitely eat into Sportster sales. Personally I reckon it shits on the 1200XL for looks, except for that radiator...
It looks cheap and trashy...like a wannabe jap cruiser.
I like the older one .
Looks ok to me. But they need to extend that front mudguard further forward.
Looks OK but it doesn't beat the styling of the Original Indian Scout
Are you trying to say Tonto was'nt a real Indian , you'll be saying the Lone Ranger was'nt a proper cowboy next . I do agree though it is a ugly thing , It looks like a Victory
I would go for a 19" front and 17" rear spoked wheels, re-profile the guards to match the side profile of the older Scout, mount the headlight about 75mm higher, and replace that hideous exhaust. Unfortunately, the World's Largest Clutch Housing is right where an exhaust should be. I'd like a nice 2 into 1 but until the engine is redesigned to remove that bloody great lump housing the clutch options are limited. Maybe a front pipe sweeping straight back over the clutch housing. Then cut about 6 to 8 inches off the back guard.
All opinions aside, I reckon theyll still sell. The hipsters will love them. I don't expect Polaris feels they'll convert too many Harley fans over to Indians, but instead capture a whole new audience of trendy 20-30 year olds who think Harley's are too mainstream. Expect to see them parked outside coffee shops in places like Newtown, West End & Fitzroy, among others.
At least it's not yellow!
