So if I want to tighten a bolt to 46nm what do you reckon would be close to that? another flat? thanks :o)
Oh I thought you guys'd say that
Two grunts and a groan,,,, if ya right handed, and it's a right hand thread.
Two groans and a grunt if ya left handed, and if it's a left hand thread reverse the above.
If ya not used to approximation, the boyz are right, get hold of the right torque wrench, saves a lot of grief in the end.
If ya really get stuck, ya need ta put 33.927858868 pounds of pull on a twelve inch long spanner/socket bar.
tension wrenchs are great tool but you dont buy a 200 ftb and use it on minimum setting say 20 ftb to 60 , the way they are calibrated , a 200 ftb job would be fine for 70 to 170 , they can vary thru range and like most things , middle range is normaly were they are most accurate , i have warren brown old shcool wrenchs ,but are all not very old , the 3 i have cost arount $ 1000 total , pays to buy quality , the small one you have is good for tensioning auto trans bands and 1/4 down bolts nuts etc , if you add a extension to the bar etc , you will damage it, or the readings , it is the wrong tool for the job , they should be treated with care ,if cant afford , you may be to borrow one , remember , these tools are made for us because we are inaccurate LOLO cheers
thats cool hilly , to some people who dont work in the fitting and maching industry like we do could miss interpret what extensions bars you use on your torque wrenchs , and just maybe do damage to tooling or item ,that all dude , cheers
hey hilly , dont ever give your digital vernior to a boiler maker , they will tell you that they make great chipping hammer LOLOL
I always thought it was tighten it up until it feels like it's stripping and then back off quarter of a turn.
Keep an eye on that little one, the good ones are worth a few bucks, but it you have no use for it cos its too small I'll look after it for you, even pay the postage so you won't be out of pocket.
