Hey guys, I lost one of my security fobs & am now using my spare. I would like to replace the one I lost & would like to know if the dealers are the only ones that can programe a new fob to the bike or is there some other place that i can take it to? Looking forward to any advice on this matter. Thanks

What bike/year? Have you looked in your workshop manual?

I was under the impression it was only done by the dealer.

I have done a bit of research on this for the same reason as the OP.
Have found procedures to assign a second fob for the early fobs with a button but not for the later fobs (from 2006 ?)
I understand the Digital Tech scanner can be used to scan a barcode in the owners manual supplied with a new bike.
May be able to do it with other scanners,
not sure how it would be assigned to a second fob.

If you don't have a PIN the dealers can't/won't assign it and that is a whole new ball game.

Looked at this again over the last few days
Seems the Digital Tech is the only way of assigning a second fob to the bike for the 2007 and up fobs (TSSM/HFSM)
You have to have both fobs available at that time
In the meantime , if relying on one fob you better know your pin because you'll otherwise be stuffed if you lose it or your fob battery dies
( Might have to go see the dealer when that relationship improves :) )

The new fob(s) HAVE to be dealer assigned using their "Digitech"

NO INDY CAN DO IT THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS !

At the time of fob coding they can reset the Pin , I had it done to my 2008 Yank Import CVO Springer which "lost" a fob somewheres on the way to Perth WA

No mate , if the bike had a PIN I did not know it

I didn't even think about it until the Harley dealer tech asked if I wanted the PIN reset while he was doing the job and what number(s) did I want ?.

I've just looked out my invoice from the time , January 2013 , and the invoice says AT THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER

CHANGED PIN CODE TO ***** ( EXCEPT IT WAS NUMBERS OBVIOUSLY !)

Total cost for fob and coding $100 inc GST

I've never tried the PIN since that date

    Hi
This has nothin to do with the OP request, but.
I hate those bloody fobs, sometimes they don't work, other times they work when you don't want them to!!
Iv'e had to push the bike out of range of radio towers, the farkin alarm goin off its bloody head, every bodie starin at ya!!!
I've had the alarm blarin in petrol stations cause the lectric pumps play up with da stuffin fob!!
Me mates sat fone sets it off , fartin the wrong way sets it off. I hate computa's on bikes...
An yeah I know you can disarm them, but with that shreekin alarm an all the flashin lights, I just wanna walk away sayin things like, Dunno who owns it, poor bugga..
Ha ha ha, ya gotta laff..........

    Hi Grilla
Well that was the first thing I did, gorfot all about it. was livin in a caravan park/retirement village. Did the same thing muckin about with the battery. Had a dozen oldies at the door. wavin walkin sticks at my general direction. Manager right behind them,"your gonna have to find some where else to live". Had him bail me up the day before about the V&H long shots the day before, so it didn't come as a surprise.. Was bloody loud though, Sunday morning too.... Oh yeah while I'm pickin on the alarm, it has its own power supply, a 9vlt battery (I think) draws its charge from the big battery. Can flaten it if you don't use a tender .Specialy if you turn the alarm on an off a few time just moevin the bike round the shed, maybe startin it without takin it for a ride, hapens.
Hope some one gets sumthin outa this.
    Cheers

If you have one most key cutting joints can make a copy, they read the info and copy it to the new one. Generally casts $100-150 bucks. If you have lost yours then that is a different horse. Only through a dealer with blood from your first born child.
