Advice needed I have a 2010 Heritage and after about then first 100kms the missis needs to stop and walk around for a bit due to innner thigh pain. How can I make it more comfortable for her, besides the obvious comments like leave her home. I enjoy having her with me. I have started to look around at different pegs or boards but would like to hear what other may have done. Cheers

it's like any sport, you need to train for it, more time in the saddle needed.

Is your bride tall mate? Could be that you need to get the pillion pegs a bit power for her.

Often pain around those areas is stress related. People often tense up when riding (or on the back) even though they don't know it. Try to get her to relax, safe riding and time will help.

The saddle may be too wide for her.

Something to think about is, if the seat has not had much use. Then they say to allow about 1000km to break a seat in. Apart from this, Have a look at the Mustang, Wide Vintage Touring seats ( but still takes about 1000km to break in, both rider & pillion)

with the thigh pain,  it will just take getting used to having legs apart ( not trying to be rude here). I have small floor boards for my missus on my FXST. She seems happy enough. This way she can move her feet around a bit.

yep its probably inexperience and fear. shes clamping with her thighs wether shes aware of it or not.. once she can relax shell be fine.. think about how you see new pillions clamp on with their hands their nuckles turn white. then try holding a heavy weight between your legs. for half an hour and youll get an idea what shees feeling, and what my lifes like

a good well padded sissy bar to lean back may help her relax

You could also try the Air Hawk seat pads. My wifey loves hers and I use one on longer runs. Also fitted mini foot boards to my old Heritage for her and she was a lot more relaxed. And my pipes stopped having bloody melted boot marks on them.

I had exactly the same problem, back rest is a must and I ended up buying a mustang pillion seat as well as repositioning the passenger boards. The stock pillion seat is approx 11 inches across compared to the 14 inch mustang seat. The extra 3 inches makes a world of difference.

Get her to start riding a pushbike regularly. Seriously, years ago I was doing about 100 kliks a week on a mountain bike. Every time we went riding dirtbikes (most weekends) my mates would sook about their arse being sore from riding the dirtbikes all day. I reckon the pushy riding strengthened up the old arse cheeks a lot, but also helped with balance and confidence.

And tell her what I tell Shazza......Honey I love going for a ride on the Harley with you! But I LOVE going for a ride on the Harley WITHOUT you!

    Nah it doesnt help.
