I have a 04 fatboy FLSTF that have been lowered looks good but the ride is killing my back is there a P/N for the oringinal rear shock mounting studs and rubber dampeners as i am guessing they have swapped the bolts to get this look . Is this the best way to go about this ?

On my 1995 softail I lowered it with new lowering bolts but they were adjustable...When the bike was down low it was like a rigid so I just wound it back up and it was really smooth..Are you sure you can't just crank them back up...

Thanks for the reply fellas I had a look under the bike tonight they have got the standard shocks on 54508-00A without looking ar another bike the bolt look much the same as the oringinal rods I seen on ebay I have lifted the bike up before it made things worse really tight  I only weigh  69kg when I ride solo I can get by when the wife comes add on another 65kg which makes things worse . Is there anything eles they could of tampered with to get this look, its got no give in it at all you can see about 1/2 inch of the tyre under the guard .

It looks to me like there is a fair bit of adjustment there...It's been a while since I had mine but if you undo the lock nut that is right near the shock and then screw the thread into the shock it should lift up the bike...On mine the less thread meant a higher rear end and it was definately a smoother ride...

This is a photo of the shocks for your bike (#54508-00A) and I would say they are set at original adjustment. I had a look at my bike (but couldn't take a good photo) and they appeared to be identical as that in the photo (and mine is a Lo).

Thanks Veteran for going to all that trouble, couple extra locknuts on mine seems to be the only difference , would I gain a better ride if i looked at different shocks? do I need to visit a dealer  cheers enjoy your weekend
