Had a bingle on my big girl Ruby a few weeks back. Yeah, I dropped her at low speed. Took her into the shop to have the repairs quoted. The man said we like to replace rather than repair panels and I thought, "Good one!" The quote came up seven grand short of agreed value cover and the assessor rang me yesterday and told me they are going to write it off. I said "What?......it's covered for heaps more than the quote" His reply was that they would get ten grand for the wreck (???????....the damage is superficial!) and the balance is more than blah blah blah blah blah...................I told him I'm not losing that bike because you want to sell it to your mates!
The insurance company?.......................S******S.......................and I was told by that assessor that they are owned by Suncorp. If you want their name PM me and I'll pass it on but I thought I had better not get admin into trouble.
The result so far is that the man is requoting and including repainting of damaged panels rather than replacement. I think this is pretty poor conduct on behalf of what I thought was a reputable insurance company. If S******s management wish to discuss this with me they have my phone number.
Get ya pay out, then buy back for the $10g mentioned., That mob would not insure me as I answered Yes when asked if I was an Enthusiast. I told them well the advert on TV says different. Good Luck with the outcome. I hope it is what you want.
If it's insured for agreed value then you agreed to the value when you paid your premium...If it's replacement value then take the new bike but get all the extra's off the wreck before they take it...
Retroman, the blokes on here who know me knew what bike it was, but I do appreciate all input.I have however nominated the panel repairman as he's worked for me in the past and his work is impeccable.
