Hi there, doing some research into an idea of mine, and would appreciate some honest, serious feedback and recommendations which would be greatly appreciated.

For those of who enjoy getting out on their rides for more than just a quick blast down to the local shops for a few groceries, cruise or a day ride, I was wondering if there would be a genuine market for miniature version camper trailers for that weekend or extended road trip, whether it be solo, with your partner, or a bunch of your mates, who prefer to rough it a little instead of seeking out alternative accommodation in the nearest town etc?

If there was a market for these campers, what potential features would customers really be looking for in a camper trailer, besides a dry, comfortable place to crash at night, & a secure place for luggage storage?

Has anyone previously heard of or come across these types of campers in their travels?

What level of interest would these mini campers generate?

Would there be a market for this product, and would it be a popular investment?

Who would be the most likely target audience?

I have a lot more questions to ask, but just leaving a few for those of you to ponder and provide valuable feedback.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's time in providing their input, regards 06 Softail.

Mate, My other busisness is camper trailers. Since the influx of fucking Chinese shit dont bother. Unless you want to sell more of that fucking Chinese shit.

Sorry anger not focused on you, or your idea.

Speaking from experience. Australian labour and raw produce builds the best quality products. Shame the average person sees only with their wallet and pay off the quality.

This looks pretty good. Since HD recommends not towing, what is the towing capacity of the 103" motor range? Have pipes, s&s ecm, air cleaner... Or are any other engine mods needed?

Mate, I think I know where you're headed with this.

You could start with a basic box type trailer and add all the options from there.
Why not end with a camper for two with gas and water.

As russ says, you would have to out price the asian market. Maybe even start by selling consignment in bike shops.
But saying that, I haven't seen any in the shops in Adelaide, only online and second hand ones at that.

I have only seen 1 set up with all the caravanning I do . It was a small motorcycle trailer that pulled out like a camper trailer . Just tent , no kitchen etc .

    Just something to consider.

Keep in mind that for light weight and smallish size items, you can buy hikers equipment to put in the trailer like a Jet Boiler, Even little hikers pots and pans to suit, On day trips, I carry some of these items in a back pack and can pull up and make a coffee in less than 2 minuets.  The hikers gear is small and good quality. Its the stuff mountain climbers use and is usually titanium and or anodised aluminium, but light as. EG Check out Jet Boiler and associated hikers gear.

Would go well with a limited space camper trailer and look good in a display trailer.

Austrack do one, although it's a bit heavier than what I'd buy for myself. I suspect it's better suited to things like Tri-Glides and Spyders than 2 wheelers.

I'd buy a classic trailers camper but they no longer make them new and I haven't found a 2nd hand silver one yet.

Try looking under 'Excel' or lightweight camper trailer , think thats the right spelling or something very close to it. They make or used to make lightweight campers for bikes and small cars. They only come up every now and again usually on gumtree.

You need to be able to do an overnighter before you need a camper! Just saying.
    Good luck with the idea.

    HI

    MY TWO BOB'S WORTH.

I HAVE SEEN EXAMPLES OF CAMPER TRAILERS BEHIND BIKES, THEY MOSTLY SEEM TO HAVE LEAF SPRINGS WHICH IN MY OPINION PUTS THEM TOO HIGH OF THE ROAD. I HAVE ALLSO SEEN THEM TIP AND TAKE A HEAVEY BIKE DOWN.

I HAVE A CLASSIC TRAILER LIKE SPOOK, THEY HAVE TORSION BAR SUSPENTION WHICH GETS THEM LOW. I HAVE TOWED MINE AT 15O KLICKS BEHIND A ROADKING JUST TO SEE WHAT IT COULD DO, FELT FINE. COURSE I WOULDN;T MAKE A HABIT OF IT.

    THATS ALL DUGE

If bikes were meant to tow trailers, they'd come out standard with tow bars.

Look under "Excel camper trailer" on Gumtree W,. there is one for sale with pictures. 120 kg easy to tow, annex, queen size bed, small kitchen. If your still looking for one or what they look like, they come up every now and again at various prices. Hope thats some help. Think they are made in WA, no website though? If the weight given in the ad is right, they weigh the same as a big person. Keep the towing point lower than the axle, then it pulls the front wheel down when accelerating.
