Is there any permanently installed video cameras available ? I have a gopro but the battery doesn't last no where near as long as a ride does. Two batteries still wouldn't cover it. I'd like one to be permanently powered. Most I've looked at are mains or USB powered. I thought of putting a USB outlet on the bike and permanently powering it that way but maintaining a waterproof seal is not possible. I did a search before asking this question.

    thanks for any help given.

Hi there. GoPro are good for professional footage but some say they are a bit of overkill as a traffic camera. I put the GoPro on my bike behind the fairing. I bought an OEM case for for it which has a special machined hole in the side for the USB power. Better than nothing and I suppose could be made water resistant by putting a bit of tape over the opening. I installed a 2 x USB power outlet on the handlebars between the risers which can power the GP and phone. The GP can be set to record and overwrite the footage like a Traffic Camera but this recording gets upset everytime you turn the camera on or off or interrupt the power by turning on the bike. Last time I used it as a TC, I had plenty of power for the whole trip but ran out of storage (32gb). Set the frame of the footage using the free GoPro app on the phone. Just turn it on and off at the camera.
I'll post some pics in a while.

Check out the RePlay XD, all sorts of mounts and accessories available and is a good piece of kit.

I run a 720 for helmet cam, and a 1080 mounted to the crash bars via a RAM mount, excellent results.

A couple of nice set ups there. I've never seen a USB outlet like that before. That ram mount looks like what I'm looking for. I may pinch some ideas from both set ups. Thank you gentlemen.

Those ram mounts are the ants pants. I use them for the GPS and as a mounting for the GoPro mount.
