question , ? , hydraulic lifters ? if i build a good car eng , i use solid roller lifters and cam ,stock hydraulic lifters are suited to standard valve spring pressures and non aggresive lobe lift , if you dont run quality lifter set that are up to handle these higher pressures , then you will see abnormal markings on roller , hydraulic lifters do not hold correct clearance at all rev ranges , so lifter will not follow cam profile and chatter and hammering will happen with out you even hearing it , the other reason that it could happen is poor quality items etc , there is also lot of other areas i havent touched on that will help this problem mutate , this only the start , cheers guys
Hi Ando,
Do you know aproximately when they started putting C lifters in. Plenty of my mates have recent 96s and 103s and do lots of kms.
Cheers Mate.
hi , paul , just wondering what heads have you got on the bike now ,
Thanks Ando.
Yeah agree about dyno charts not being everything. My bike has never seen a dyno and seat of the pants is what I use to assess performance and change. Having said that, I'm considering having it dyno tuned to see if it can produce more torque earlier in the rev range but I also think the 585s are simply the wrong cam for me. Cost of headwork adds up with heads, headwork, throttle body and injectors, labour etc.
Bucky I will be using Pete at Robbos. Our engine builder raves about him as do others like Chriso from this forum. He's also happy to tune with non race tuners such as tts or pv if you provide the software/laptop.
Let me know when you're coming to Canberra and I'll meet up with you. How are you finding your bike with the high comp 103 build, Dunn heads and andrews 55 cams?
