Noticed today a bit of fuel under my sled, tracked it down to a crack in the weld of the front mounting tab

Harley want $1700 for a new tank pricks
theres a new take of full paint set for a 07 softail on ebay usa starting at $720 buy it now $1020 if its the same as yours black vivid with red hd
expect to pay any where from $170 to $350 for shipping depends how they pack it , one side tank for a evo is like $1400+ here at the stealers
Difficult to see from the photo as to what might have caused the failure. HD prides themselves on the quality of the way tins are pressed, especially in uniform thickness throughout the bend. Visited the York factory back in 2007, but cannot recall the process for the tanks, only fenders.
The increased torque may have something to do with it, but difficult to gauge....
I’m an electronics guy, but I've been involved in enough mine site structural shit to suggest you buy a new tank. If it was a process failure, who’s to say there won't be further issues. Maybe it is a one off... or a bubble that caused failure due to corrosion... who knows. If it were mine it would be new tank and possibly get the old tank assessed by HD in Sydney... my 2c worth without even a grin...
