Can anyone help with their opinion on the best setup of exhaust, air cleaner and ECM for my stock standard (3500ks) 2006 dyna streetbob ??

im thinking of 2 into 2 exhaust as I don't like the look of 2 into 1

and this will be all the work I want to do on my engine for a long time to come hopefully!!

    Why the low k's ?

Is it an " Aussie " bike from new or a US import ?

IT DOES MATTER as the "Aussie" 2006 Dynas had no O2 sensors in the exhaust , but the US bikes did

Best bang for the buck performance wise is the stock OEM Headers ( downpipes ) and freeflow mufflers. Khrome Werks / S&S /Rush racing etc etc

That will retain your low end torque and cost half what a 2 into 2 system will cost, plus they're easy fit 1

Dyna slip on mufflers from 1995 onwards will fit I do believe , so early Screaming Eagle mufflers for Dynas will bolt straight on

ECM upgrades depend on the "origin" of the bike a wee bit

You probably don't need a $525 "Screamin Eagle race Tuner" there are other ways

Air filter wise , huge choice , all work the same. Ebay is the way to go , Genuine HD stuff as good as any. Be sure it's Dyna compatible

Thanks for your advice retro man,yes it is a import so that's handy to know about the 02 sensors, the low miles is due to me having no licence till Xmas so I've only put about 500ks on it since I bought it!

Mate, you'll get a different answer from almost everyone you ask.
Everyone has an opinion based on their experiences which may or may not be the best for your bike.

Last thing you want is to copy someone else's setupaand and not be happy with it.

    Good luck in your endeavors.

If that is the extent of what you'll change and there's no need to squeeze every available bit of power out of the bike then a cheap and simple fuel controller like a Vance and Hines fuel pak is all you really need.

If there's a possibility that you'll make further changes in the future, then a more sophisticated tuner might be worth considering. The options are endless - research tts, screamin eagle race tuner, power vision, power commander, thundermax to name just a few. Many options, they work in different ways, pros and cons to all of them. And there are some that have "self tuning" and "auto tuning" functions to try and save on dyno tune expense. If you use a shop to work on your bike, ask what their preferred tuner is, that is if they tune bikes.

I'm a "TTS" man myself , have been since 2008

My 2006 Dyna had a " one-off" Stage 1 download from the HD dealer , cost $150 at the time , bike ran well enough. ( I don't think they do that in Australian dealers any more !).

My 2007 Softail Custom i used Nightrider XIED wires in the O2 sensor lines , you can get them for your 2006 US spec dyna ( around $100 Aussie !)

They work FINE for a stage 1 upgrade

OR you can " go further " and get a tuner to reset the instructions in the bike's ECM. A lot more money and a learning curve. ( I have done that myself ! )

You then need a laptop / software / cables x2 and a wee bit of computer savvy. If you go that way then I personally reccomend the TTS system

Thanks everyone for your replies, but I got another question,I'm thinking of going in the way of v&h big shot staggered,s/e heavy breather and tts tuner or power vision so my question is with either one of these tuners I eliminate having to put my bike on a dyno and can tune it myself with a laptop? Is this correct.

I recently did a stage 1 on a mates bike, he said he would not be doing any more work on the bike period. Due to price I was going to use the Vance & Hines Fuel pack but then I found a place(AMX in Victoria) that sells the PC V for not much more. Defiantly worth it for all the extras it can do.

None of my bikes have ever been on a Dyno , ( a personal choice thing and the fact that WA only has a few Dyno shops anyways !)

Nor most of my riding mates . Most are on TTS after my recomendations , and all are happy with the way their bike runs

Sometimes you may get good results with just " canned" calibrations and you're good to go , or you may need to "tweak" the calibration and reload it to the ECM

TTS in particular spend many hours Testing their calibrations before release so they're pretty close

Can you get a "better" running bike with a Dyno tune ? Well probably but it's not 100% required where there are cals already built for your mechanical build spec.

"Wild card " builds ? The Dyno guy will be necessary , but for a Stage 1 most likely not so ..

    Just my opinion of course

Thanks retroman,I'm leaning towards the tts! Power vision does sound alright though,do you know any other pros and cons between the two?
