I have a 2003 Electra Glide Classic with an HD "tall boy" seat. I'm Looking at the Burley apes as they will go up to around the top edge of the batwing. Are these legal or does anyone with an Electra Glide Classic have another brand that will be around this height and be legal. This 380 mm off the seat makes things very confusing it makes everything dependent on what type of seat you have.. Our law is simple -- back of hands no higher than shoulders! End of discussion. I'm 1.9 meters tall and 920 sleeve, rideing hunched a bit and want to straighten up. Evidently the 10" apes ( 254mm) are closer to 12" (304mm) Can anybody help with this, I don't want to spend a lot of money and then be told I am non conforming and will have to change them. Thanks!
Thnks for the effort Crowy but I have done the research and the lowest point of the grip to the attachment point being 380mm is bikes prior to 1988,. After that it is 380 mm from the lowest side to tthe lowest point of the upper surface of the seat. This is very logical because the height will vary with what seat you have. Burley 10" apes are closer to 12" according to people who have bought them, so you can see my dilema The bars are 35.433" wide or right on 450 mm as meaured from the centre point of the yoke which is ADR specs. I think you may now understand. How do you measure unless you have the actual bar in your hand so I figure someone may have the same configuration as I want. No harm in asking!
I'm not stuck on these 10" Burley bars, I just want a higher set of bars than stock around the top edge of the Batwing fairing on the sides if this is legal according to ADR.------ Any suggestions for a 2003 Electra Glide with a "tall boy" seat. People in North America won't know!
