I need a little help with a couple of issues that have arisen with my Iron. I have a 1250 Hammer Performance conversion and just recently I've noticed oil coming from the breather filter. Is it normal? Should I change the filter? Or maybe clean it somehow? The second issue is the brake lights, they've stopped working. Thought it might be a sticky actuator but neither front or rear brake use will illuminate the brake lights. Is this an easy fix or is it going to involve a trip back to the stealership? My Iron has covered over 62,000 kms which have been trouble free. I understand these are minor niggless but would appreciate any help so I can resolve them and continue riding in the carefree manner which I've become very used to.

Engine breathing can cause your oil in the airfilter, there are many different reasons why it happens but mostly because the engine was not ran in correctly or mixtures are too rich and has glazed the bores (common with tunes from dealer and your usual way of thinking carby tuners) you can clean it with brake clean. Also try only filling your oil half way between the low and full mark.

With your brake lights check the fuses first, then you might want to look at using a test light and probing the wiring at the tail light connectors to check that where is a + when pressing the brake, if you do have power there when you press the leaver/peddle then your tail light assembly is US.

What 1250 kit do you have?

Hiya mate, I have the Hammer Performance 1250 kit with reverse dome pistons, Hammer/K&N hi-flo a/c. She was dyno'd with 80bhp which makes her a riot to ride. The oil misting is coming from the engine breather filter not the a/c itself. I've removed and cleaned the filter in petrol so hopefully that'll sort it. The issue with the brake lights has not yet been resolved. The brake lights just stay on, not sure what to do about it yet
