Anyone know the AMC size and thread. What is normal here. Yeah I checked manual. not usefull.
I have a recently purchased rat that I am trying to bring to life. Took ages to get tranny oil plug out. Some wanker had cut back a 14mm metric set screw running a metric course thread (1.5).He then rammed it in like he didn't give a hoot. Some people. I am gunna have to tap it, flush it, and install new plug. I wanna install a Fumoto valve. Makes it easier and avoids these kind of problems. What size are these plugs normally.
Thanks. Scott J. Australia.
hi scottsmad i ve work on a lot of early castiron Sporties & still own some , have had this before someones has ripped the thread out or stripped the trans drain, iv'e even seen grounddown spark plugs jamed in there , once the threade is gone i put in a NPT or NFPT thread tapered allenhead presure plug don't have to remove clutch , last for years , or are you looking for original look with stock drain plug , a lot of old castiron Sporties have been got@ by a lot of people that used them as & entry level Harley & just plamed them off to the next guy , rather than fix them proper , if your after original plug fitment look @ a hellicoil or have to weld & redress , , bluestar you look prety on a pink bicycle
girls bikes are more comfy for us old fells. perhaps though you could piss off to the smartass section of the forum, MR dO-NOTHIN.. this is where people seek answers. Not your second hand jokes off Easy Rider. Brainless.
Whateer I put back in will have a Fumoto valve. Used em for years. Once you got it in, no need to turn again. You just open the passageway with a spring action gismo and out goes the oil, Just have to deal with these yanks mad measuring system. ty
