Hey everyone. Had a slight accident with my Springer this week. Major damage is to the front end, which to my naked eye seems to have bent back slightly at the risers. Anyone know of a springer specialist here in Brisbane who can have a look at it for me? Don't have any insurance, so will need to be reasonably priced.

    Cheers

Nothing cheap about a HD Springer front end . Heard $6k for one . Doesn,t take much to tweak the frame either .Try your local HD bikeshop , but it wont be cheap . Beware of non HD  springer front ends .

Thanks Tim and Kiwidave. I will contact both guys and see what the go is. The bike is a long-term keeper, I bought it in 2002 but want to keep it as stock as possible, so OEM is the only way to go - but eye-wateringly expensive!

Have you considered whether you need the entire springer assembly? If the damage wasn't too severe, maybe you'll only need to replace the rigid fork legs, and not the spring fork leg and springs and so on.....

    Hi Colstah

That's pretty much the reason for my initial question. I need to be able to take the bike to someone for them to evaluate the damages, and recommend a cost-effective fix. I think that I may just take the front end off the bike and take it to Morgan and Wacker and see what they have to say.

Gidday Springer ... just a thought before you go to Wackers ... there used to be a family run business in the Valley that did some nice work on old school gear ... the Family`s name was Taveners , I think ... I will try and track down their number for you .

Another guy you could try is a guy call Shane , down at Molendinar near Nerang ... he owns and runs a little shop called .. Speed Demon Cycles .. 0415 556 006 .. he can come across a bit abrasive at times , what good quality bike builder doesn't , but he does seem to know his way around Harleys .

If you want to check out some of his work have a gander in the Softail section under 99 Springer Project , it is a bike I had him build for me , or he has a website at speeddemon.com.au

Hope that helps ... got to keep those Springers on the road ... good luck to ya ... Tim .
