    gday all

just changed the exhaust on my street bob and thinking of changing to a different air intake aswell.

the bike was originally with a screamin eagle tuner but the previous owner couldnt find the box when i bought the bike.

i want to get it retuned to suit the new pipe and intake and aswell because it has run a bit fat (rich)

would the power commander be a good choice or should i get another with a screamin eagle tuner?

im a bit of an old school mechanic and dont reallly play with computers and injection so dont know which way to go.

anybody know any good tuners in tasmania?? or should i do a quick tripp to melbourne ? haha!

    cheers!

I find the power vision easy enough to use.

I've just been thru' this with my mate's 2011 Streetglide ( same mechanics as a Dyna !)

He fitted a used 120R motor from a 3rd friends bike.

As a 103 I had already put the bike onto the TTS system , thru several upgrades , 255 cams etc etc

There were no Calibrations in the Mastertune TTS files for a 120R , stumped me at first

To get the bike running I used an 1856 Super High output CVO calibration and changed the cubes to 120 ( and other stuff !)

Bike ran well enough , no popping on decel , good roll on power . no pinging or detonation . ( This cal is still in the bike )

I then got 3 different TTS 120R Touring cals emailed to me by a very helpful forum member from the US CVO Harley site. All DBW cals

These I will try maybe this coming weekend

The "super tuner" does come with 3 120R cals , model platform based , but he was already on a TTS

FFS tim spend the extra and get it tuned by a pro. You've already spent enoughn don't fuck your top end with a bad tune or worse your crank. AGHH.

Bloke is trying to find a good tuner in tas or Melb.

Maztech in Melb frequently gets good feedback as does eastern performance who is a forum sponsor, also in Melb

he needs a tuning device first and thats what the OP asked for

but find a dyno operator see what he likes to use and thats your answer

thanks for the replies fellas, the bike was originally tuned at eastern big twin but its always run pretty fat (rich). i have been playing around with the new exhaust a bit which is a supertrapp supermeg and it is going better than ever but am thinking of just getting it checked out. i want to do a couple more bits and pieces to the donk over the next year which will negate getting it tuned again.

just have no idea which tuner to go for, am going to do some ringing around next week to book her in to get checked out on a dyno

As Ando has said, you'll know what tuner interface to go with once you have rung around and decided who you're gunna get to Tune the donk.

If you're not gunna get into doing any tuning yourself, leave it up to what your chosen Tuner prefers.

Most tuner interfaces are capable of doing all the neccessaries, it's what the Tuner himself is capable of that matters.

hi guys , once a bike has been tuned thru th positions etc should be fine , there is zero to 100 percent throttle opening , what ranges or throttle  positions was it rich at ,  , ? 2% - 10% - 100% , etc , if you ever have bike dynoed tuned and all good , any air cleaner intake changes , exhaust changes  etc , you have changed the dynamics of the cyclinder fillage and afr ratios , simple change of mufflers with more or less restriction , changes afr miles ,  cheers

    Hi timsporster,

Unusual for it to be running too rich. I would be more than happy to check it for you. The 120R does need to run on the richer side of things to keep it cool and reliable. But not enough that you would notice it. All Harleys go back to full cold start mode for approx 30 seconds every time you start the engine regardless of engine temp.. Was that the time that you noticed the rich condition?

I can load a Power Vision Licence key into your bike for $250. That is the cheapest way to get any tuner into your bike. Then We can Dyno tune and remap to suit your new exhaust. Please give me a call as I would like to  get it right for you.

    Cheers Brian.

    Hi Timsporster,
Sounds like your throttle pump adjustment needs to be backed off. I have looked at the map that is in your bike and there is still a little bit of adjustment left.
As pointed out by "Dynoharley" the new exhaust and intake will require a very different map and full retune.
If you are prepared to make the trip over I will certainly make it worth your while.
    Cheers Brian.
