I just purchased my first Harley - Street Bob Special Edition 2014 in Australia. Very pumped I might add!

I have ordered the V&H Short Shots, the salesman told me I may have problems with the pillion passengers feet due to the exhaust being close.

I won't be using a passenger much but still want to have the luxury.

Has anyone experienced this and will it be fine?

Short shots are among the shittest pipes you could get. Sure they look good, but they make obnoxious noise that attracts the wrong kind of attention and don't perform as well as many other exhausts.

What do you say about the negative comments in the thread having had them?

Mate if you like them, get them. I love mine, you can do mods to the baffles to make them sound even better and mine tuned up great too.
I have never had trouble with the pillion side of things either.

Yes Hilly, the big shots with the crossover may be my next pipe when I do head work ... Just maybe as I love my short sots too. I bought them first off years ago for the look of them as the hot rod theme is something I like but I've probably kept them just to go against what everyone else says... Just the way I roll lol.

Stephen they should come with standard baffles, quiet baffles are a reasonable option, they don't actually quite them much but the deepen the tone a bit. My quiet baffles actually broke, they aren't a very sturdy piece of engineering. Being a metal worker I made my own. Used some stainless perforated tube and modified the baffle end caps to make the perforated section as long as possible then wrapped the perf tube with fibreglass matting. Still loud but deeper note and dyno'd up nice

all negative comments asside, I loved mine. Yes, noisy but enjoyed them whilst I had them. Was told I would loose 10% torq and HP.

I had the A/C changed, Short Shots and PCIII and dyno tuned by Patterson's in Bunbury (Duc dealer)... was very happy...

When I first got my Harley I wanted short shots as loved the look and sound. I still like the looks but the practicality of pipes that aren't too loud is something I have since learnt to appreciate.

For me, an exhaust choice comes down to balancing the looks of the exhaust, with the noise, and performance. I also like stuff for Harleys that everyone else doesn't have.

My dyno results, before and after tune. Not too bad with the short shots
