    Hello all,

I'm extremely excited having just placed an order for my first ever HD!
I've ordered a new (Will actually be a 2015 model) 883 Sportser from the Alexandria branch here in Sydney.
(Cheeky pic of the stock one in the shop attached.)

I'll be picking her up on September 15th (Licensing issues)... But here's the rundown of how it will be upon pickup:

    Matt Black 883 Sportster Iron
Vance & Hines Short Shots (Slash cut)
    Heavy Breather & Tuner upgrade
    Drag bars
    Mirrors flipped
    Forward controls
    Badlander seat (For the misses)

I've also got a few extra bits and bobs that I ordered online for her too... Speedo relocater, Derby covers etc, just cosmetics.

Anyway, I thought I'd sign up here in preparation, learn a few things and find out about the local community etc.

Welcome. I'll be a first time HD owner in about 8 weeks. Went with the 1200 custom myself. I feel your excitement mate!

Jayman, I almost did the 1200 upgrade but I've never ridden anything close to an 883 before power wise... So I figured it best to stick to that and then maybe do the 1200 upgrade in a year or two. The excitement is killing me though... mines, almost 4 months away!! :(

    Thanks, Pauly - i'm sure you're right.

Its a good choice to start of with something more manageable and then work your way up with more power. Many people jump straight onto a 1000 japper as soon as they can with predictable results

@ Pauly - Yeah I think so. I jumped ahead with a car and had a 2.2 vtec prelude engine stuck in a civic with a greddy turbo back in the UK, but I think I'll take a bit more care on a bike. Also buying it straight away leaves no room from an exciting upgrade down the track - always nice to have something to look forward to.

Nat & Keith, thanks for the welcome :)

Welcome, think they missus may not enjoy the Badlander, not much padding for a pillion.

@ Deadwood... Really? Is it that bad? I haven't sat with the parts guy in the dealership to select the exact parts yet - anyone recommend a better option? IF I had my way, it'd be a solo springer seat and a bus ticket.

Hey Davutch, thanks for the recommendation. Just looked up the air hawks... Seems like a good idea for the longer rides, but nipping around the city will be fine on the badlander?

Around town they are good, with the Sporty tank you may not notice it too bad between 150k fuel stops. I had one on my Dyna and just bought one for me Road King but would never use it on a full days ride.

The sad thing is the only other options are Sundowners etc (not sure if they make them for a sporty) and they look real ugly as far as seats go but you can sit on them all day without issue, plus plenty of padding for the trouble & strife.

Thanks for the feedback guys... I think i'm going to stuck with the badlander as most trips will be short around the city, and pick up a air hawk for the longer rides.
@ rodders, thanks! I've been doing just that ;)

    Hey Picker,

I had originally settled on the badlander as well but apparently Mustang make much better and more comfortable seats. I am ordering one of their seats as I actually prefer the look too. Check em out.

    Hey Woz,

Is this the seat you're referring to? Looks like it's got a bit more meat to it than the badlander...?

Welcome mate....You shoulda just gone with the 1200. I recently just bought a night train 1450cc. It's my first bike and after a month of riding I'm already wanting more power. It's eeeeeeasily manageable. Especially now I put on some V&H short shots and lost some low end torque. A 1000cc jap bike is another kettle of fish though.

    Hey Nispro,

I completely understand your point but the thing is, i'm not much of a speed demon and the majority of my bikes usage is riding to work from the eastern suburbs of Sydney into the city. I cant see me needing 1450cc to ride under 80 all the way to work for all of 15 minutes each way.

When I eventually move further out or whatever, and get some good open roads on the regular, then no doubt it'll be a different story :P
