The cops are always out there, when will these crotch rocket racer boys get it thru their thick skulls?

A motorcyclist has had his motorbike impounded after being caught speeding at more than 100km/h over the speed limit north-east of Melbourne on Saturday morning.

Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol clocked the Honda CBR 1000 travelling at 205km/h in a 100km/h zone on Healesville-Kinglake Road  in Castella just after 11am.

The rider, a 24-year-old Epping man, had his motorbike immediately impounded under hoon legislation and is expected to be charged on summons with dangerous speeding and exceeding the 100km/h limit.

Not to worry - in my experience the true arseholes never get caught. Usually it's the guy that decides just once in his life to "live free' and pays the price.

I am not a huge fan of confiscating one's vehicles because they got pinged under the hoon laws. is that just a "legal" way of stealing???
I think if you spend your hard earned on what ever, it is yours. use the guy in the article above, he should have to sell the bike, and be banned from buying another for a period of time to never, it will be a fore gone conclusion he will lose the license, and a good size fine, if he breaks these terms, off to jail.

we all have got out on the highway and said "lets see what she will do"

you do have a good point on where to ride hard, I was a tad generic
I am not a fan on enforced confiscation, even less on crushing

He Probably watched moto GP last night and got inspired trying to ride like Dani Pedrosa , lol. The rider may end up getting some free accommodation at the grey bar hotel depending on the magistrates and rider history. Fair enough book him but don't take his bike and crush it , imo that's dog.

205km/h on one of those is nothing, would only take a few seconds to get there. Real hoons would just wind it on and disappear.

I had one of those nearly take me out on the off ramp on the F3 just North of Sydney the other day.
It was dark and I had to peer around a truck for lights.
As soon as I pulled out Whamo, just missed me flying he was and I was doing around the 100k mark.
Gave me the finger, must of been my fault.

Not only sport bike riders who abuse the speed limit.

I wouldnt trust my harley at 205ks, I dont think it would even go that fast.

One time in New Hampshire, in the USA, I saw a crotch rocket rider overtake a car by using the fast (inside) lane on the opposite (oncoming) side of the road. It was a non-divided dual carriage-way. The guy could have used the slow (outside) lane of our own side of the road as it was free, but the crotch rocket had just flown by me (I was in the overtaking lane overtaking a car) and had too much speed to swerve to the slow lane or even slow down behind the car in the fast lane. I was doing about 75 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone (I was overtaking, otherwise I was sticking close to the limit as the White Mountains area I was in is often loaded with cops). The dude positively flew by, so was most certainly in excess of 100 miles per hour (above 160km/hr). As the crotch rocket entered the fast lane on the opposite (oncoming) side of the road, a car came over a crest, and the crotch rocket zipped to his left. Driving on the right side of the road, that means he zipped to the slow lane of the opposite side of the road, now two full lanes from his own side of the road! I was thinking this guy is going to be a pancake if another car comes over the crest, and then one did. Both cars in the opposite lanes braked hard and the crotch rocket accelerated, zipping between then, rejoining his own side of the road at the top of the crest.

My only point to this story is that I have never ever ever seen a Harley rider ride so flippantly recklessly as a crotch rocket rider and that dude rode like too many of them ride. I seriously thought I was going to watch him die.

PS: I learned from this thread there are hoon laws and I should probably google what they are (recently returned him to OZ, FXR in tow)

Well, I regularly get overtaken by Harley riders on the 30-ish k ride to work each day. A bit of context: I'm in a mining community where the per capita Harley ownership is possibly twice that of the national average. The road is a mostly straight highway featuring mostly one way traffic at 05:30AM.

I am awaiting delivery of my first Harley and as such am still riding the TL1000R. The traffic flow is generally around 95 - 100 kilometres per hour. The bikes going past me (and the whole traffic string) are well and truly in excess of 150, by my guess.

    Just saying.
