Not sure if anyone has had this happen.
Installed the flush mount fuel cap as per instructions - easy and worked a treat. Looked schmick and I was super happy. (bottom pic)
Rode it to the servo today (5km) to fill up. Pulled up and went to take cap off and noticed the split (top pic).
I know it was installed correctly and was ok until I rode it the next time (today).
Is this something that vibration could cause?
At $100 I'm not impressed.
If it,s a H-D part , I would imagine they,ll replace it straight away .
Sure is a genuine H-D part - HH Dandenong had to get it in for me because they only had chrome in stock.

$100.80 is the AU price.
Just let em know , they,ll replace it .
A couple of days ago I left a message on HH's FB page with a photo asking how I could exchange it given part of it was stuck to my bike.
Had a voicemail on my mobile from them this morning saying they'd seen the post on FB and were ordering me a new one and would ring me when it arrives.
Can't argue with that customer service!
So my next dilemma is how do I get the old surround off without damaging my tank!
Dropped in to pick up the surround this morning and the workshop guys fitted it for me while I waited, just so if it cracks again, it's on them and not me!
Been pleasantly surprised with the service from HH Dandenong. Very different to about 10 years ago.
You can't argue with that result
