Hi all. Just joined up tonight and had a bit of a look around.

    Looks great.

Anyhow, youv'e probably had this a thousand times, so sorry if I sound like a broken record, but here goes.

I got a 2008 FXDL with a factory detachable sissy bar, and I want to know if I can use the factory detachable saddle bags at the same time, or sometimes either, or maybe even better , could I use the ghost brackets with after market saddle bags. Again, like using the sissy bar and bags, or bags or sissy bar in the different combinations , if you get my drift...???

Anyhow, I will keep looking around on here as well and await a reply..

    Thanks,,  Oink Oink...

I dont think you would be able to use ghost brackets (or easy brackets) with a detachable sissy bar as the bolts for the ghost brackets would have to go where the bolts for the sissy bar are located.

I did see a Fat Bob on the VTwin forum a coupla months back that run that combination but I dont know where he got them from. It could be as simple as having some custom docking hardware turned up on a lathe. I have a set of bags ordered through my local guy here in rocko for $150.00 and ghost brackets for about $100.00. the brackets sound like a simpler version that may be suitable . due in in about three weeks, can let you know when they get here.

I recently put quick detach saddle bags on my softail and was asked if I had a fixed or detachable backrest as the bracket kit was different.

I would guess that the saddle bag docking washers sit outside the backrest docking washers. It may stick out a bit with nothing on it but I cant see why it wouldnt work.

    cheers

    Hey, its me again.
Just thought I'd let you know. The saddle bags arrived along with the ghost brackets, and are installed on the bike.
    All is good. so far.
Had to move the rear indicators of course, but it is all done and can use the removable sissy bar as well.
    Woo hoo, shit hot.
