Hey guys---- Relise this is a HD forum, but what do you think of the new Triumph Thunderbird LT ?

Not your Jap clone although it resembles a Road King Classic

Read nothing but excellent reviews for it and is well priced.

Sometimes I think my 06 WideGlide is a ticking timebomb thats only going to bring me grief-seriously thinking of trading

I rode the 2011 TB. Awesome bike, a friend traded it in on a 2011 wide glide and he regrets it. He says the TB was more cumfy, more power and handled better. I fitted SE211s for him which he is stoked with the extra kick but he does regret trading the TB.

The WideGlide is my third Harley-Davidson, my last was a evo Road King which was a gem of a bike. Only sold it as I always wanted a Twin Cam 6 speed. The WideGlide is awesome to look at and is quick and light, but rough to ride and read so much bad reports on them since owning it. I had to change engine mounts at 27K WTF ?? Already has a primary leak since changing to synthetic. Had a dealer install a SE Tuner and made fuck all difference.

Id never go back to Jappas, but the Thunderbird LT really ticks the boxes for me

I traded my street bob for a thunderbird when they first came out , Great bike handled well but when i analized it , regards handling on a straight they were pretty much the same , except over 100 klm the bob became a parachute and hard work the t bird with drag bars on was pretty much the same , so i put a screen on the t bird , that fixed it but it did'nt look has good , where handling matters in the hills and twisties , the t bird handled well , lot of people said better , but personaly i could'nt do any more or go any quicker on it than i could the street bob . It was 2 up where the t bird out shone the bob , but then again , i should of bought a super glide if i was gonna go 2 up regular

The Lt is a nice bike definetly based on the road king classic , but remember its 385 kilo . and they reckon its scrapes very easy with a price of $25000 the same has the rocket tourer , you would be mad to buy one , if you want that weight buy the rocket tourer , its 395 kilo only 10 kilo more , its got high clearance and 800 cc of more power , for a tourer type cruiser its better value , hard bags , higher clearance , bullet prove engine , , for the shorter ape resembling people like myself , you can lower them 30mm like i did just with new shocks and still have plenty of clearance .

Naaw there not for me , if its touring you want theres better options , if its for around town and day rides with the occasional overnighter , theres a lot of better options , nice bike but a blatant copy i would rather pay the extra and get the real thing .

At the risk of being laughed at , i reckon i've found the perfect combination of bikes , and later this year i'll get them , that is sell the 2 i've got and buy the new street bob for solo rides , day rides , bar hopping ect ect ,, then for the 2 up rides and interstate stuff , grab the new honda ctx 1300 , now thats a bike thats you are gonna love or hate , personaly i like it , just not sure what it is yet , Honda have invented a new class of bike , that no one knew we needed

Well since i have a one of those giant trail bikes , i have to agree with you, thats saying the riders are all of equal skill ,, But this Harleys don't handle is not true , sure a really good rider will out perrform the harley anyday if he's on a adventure bike or a super bike , thats a no brainer .

But , for the average rider its the rider does'nt have the skills not that the harley cannot perform ,course theres guys out there who wil leave the street bob , road king whatever for dead on there sports bikes , , but like i said when a really experienced rider on his harley wants to push it , the bikes are more than capable , , About 20 of us went for a ride a few months ago , there was a couple of adventure bikes , 2 rockets and a couple of sports bikes , the rest harleys , anyway has these rides sometimes do , a few of them get into pissing competitions , and took off it ended up a rocket tourer , , a triumph sprint and a soft tail , that left everyone behind , fack em let em go and race , personaly i won't get involved in that shit . But the triumph sprint rider , could'nt believe how the rocket kept up his arse , and they both could'nt believe how the soft tail was up both there arses ,

Like i said though they were going for it where skill and stupidity count , in the hills and twisties , no doubt on the straight both would leave the softail for dead .

Alls i'm saying is most people don't have the experience or skills to get the best out of there harley . I know myself has i spend more time in the saddle , and the better rider i become the harder i can push the bikes , and where i used to say the bike does'nt perform its a harley , i now lknow it will do anything i ask of it and more .

Well thanks fellas--Im more confused than ever I guess. Looked at a Triumph LT 1700 today in the flesh--Red/Black version---yeah its obviously aiming at the Road King but faaark it still ticks my boxes. Rocket 3 looks obese and doesnt look right next to it.

Hey , I may not buy it but nice to perve on another bike, like looking at your girls best friend.

Ive been riding for 35 years and owned German/Russian/English/Japanese/American bikes and had some dogs and many gems.

So Ive never really shown any brand loyalty-its just cheaper to change bikes than wives--something new and sexy catches your eye--why not ?

Harley-Davidson is my latest love-well my last three bikes-love the feel/the name/the sound.

I'll keep my options open---Ride safe

Well Dacca , I think you've answered yourself, If you like it Buy it , and good luck with it let us know what you think , Personaly i like the look of the rocket tourer , its ugliness is what attracts , bit like Angelina Jollies , big monster lips , Or Ella Mcphersons , orange size head on that amazon body
