This is the way I see it and I have posted this on another forum.

Let me start by saying that I am not Australian hog chapter member although I do have an international membership that came with my latest Harley.
I know dealers who whinge that the local Hog members do not support their businesses. My theory is that this dealer got the shits with with the lack of support and took it to the next level.
Having said that why would you support them, their Service Depts are generally slow, charge like a wounded bull and seem to strive on their inability to do the job right the 1st time.
Their Parts Dept make Ned Kelly look like a nun and if you have a computer you can usually have the part delivered from the U.S of A at half the price before someone at the stealership even rings you back let alone the six weeks it takes to send it to Oz due to the dealers and HD Australia's inability to stock anything that might sell.

Why would you support poor service.........We may not have any options when it comes to buying a new harley but there are plenty once you have it.

If you are not happy with hog then write to them, tell it how it is and then give them the bird, sooner or later they will get the message.

I was in the local HOG chapter and i found most of them to be good people. I did not get into the politics tho, and have not been in HOG for years now as I prefer riding solo or with a small group. Personally I am not interested in big club rides of any type. I organized a ride on this site and have been on other HDF rides that I thought were good rides. Horses for coarses.

As for Dealer servicing, the service I have received from the local HD dealer here in Adelaide has been good. I have no complaints. They have done the right thing by me, and gone over and above on more that one occasion.

    Cheers.

Everyone likes to ride with a few mates or solo!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now been on two HOG rides, one with 20 bikes and the other 9, both were great, I have been with 3 mates and that was great aswell, riding alone can seem longer but that's why we have a bike.

Now With all the I hate HOG that's going on, hands up all that don't think a shitload of Harley's riding in staggered formation is a great sight and how invigorated it made YOU feel.
OK, it don't have to be a HOG ride, it could have been Jocker's, Rebels, Angles or even a forum get together.

Pizzlin, I know exactley what you mean.

I too felt a bit of snobbery from other riders cause I owned a Superglide, and eventually a 17 yr old FXR at that. But I didn't give a shit cause I knew within myself that I'm not a yuppie out to ride around the block but in it for he love of motorcycling.

And I don't give a shit what anyone else rides either whether it be Yank, Pom, Euro or Jap bike. It's whats in the heart of the biker, not what he can afford to ride.

Hung around with the 1% clubs and even been Vice Pres of a social club while making made some fantastic friends along the way. But now days I'm just happy being me, with my cook on the back riding where I want too.

Mind you I miss all the comeraderry and look forward to getting my act together and getting out on some forum rides as well.

I just noticed on the back of Harley's latest HogTales magazine that the 09 Victoria State H.O.G Rally is being held in Sheparton 7-9 March 09. Wonder who is going to organise this event now?
