Stage 1 Air/Exhaust on brand new H-D

    Hey Guys

just about to buy my first ever H-D, a 2014 XL1200 Sportster Custom. The dealer has told me that the Stage 1 Air/Exhaust mod won't void my warranty IF performed BY THEM within 60 days of purchase. This seems fair enough. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Did you ever fall foul of the dealer afterward with that "not-void-the-warranty" claim? And out of interest, what options did you get, if any, on the pipes and filter that were installed?

    Thanks!

They're giving you a load of shit. Once you install the a/c and pipes, then they'll want to flog you a tuner...it'll never stop. Get it and ride it for a week or two, then decide . They'll happily sell you an a/c and pipes from the accs dept at any time. It shouldn't void the warranty anyway. There should also be a stack of second hand bits thru the forum from time to time. A cheap fix is to put on some used slip ons, install a K N high flow filter in the OE housing and drop in some Xieds to richen the injectors up a bit. Costs a fraction of installing a tuner and the lot .

No problems at all here Jayman6.

Have just bought a Sportie and rode it away stock but told them my plans of fitting up a set of pipes and an Air Cleaner (non-SE).
I bought a TTS MasterTune and created my own maps.
I work very closely with my dealer and even provided a printout of my current VE & AFR settings.

Everything is sweet with my dealer.

Hey thanks heaps for the replies fellas.

I've since spoken to the dealer and asked a few more q's, they're still insisting that any mods need to be supplied and fitted by them in order to keep my warranty in check. They're also saying that the tuner used in the stage 1 has to be a SERT for the same reason, so I guess I won't be getting a TTS or PV2 for now. On the upshot, I can use any brand of aftermarket pipes and a/c I want, as long as the dealer does the supply and fit. I can appreciate that they want to gaurantee the quality of the parts and labour, but it seems a little bit money-grabby. But heigh-ho, what can you do. For the record the setup Ill be running will be - S&S Single Bore Tuned Induction - SERT - D&D Bobcat 2-1.
