Problem with being human is that we make mistakes.

I get what you're saying Dutchy, but processes exist to minimise or eliminate human error when the consequences of mistakes are high. The dealership I dealt with were great at resolving my issue, very prompt and did what needed to be done, and while the service manager tried to shift blame elsewhere, the reality is that if a nut came loose due to human error and it just happened to be holding something on that was important, it's not too far fetched to say that life could be at risk.

The worst part is, how would anyone (including the rider, if they survived) ever know an accident was caused by something like this? It's just be a mangled mess on the road, no way to know or prove anything.

Not suggesting a person take responsibility, nor want to harp on about it, but at an organisation level it wouldn't be beyond reason to have a 2nd mechanic double check specific work. Just my 2c

This may be off the topic , But ,,,,, Smoking cigarettes are bad for you health. I must admit I'm a victim of the little fuckers . When I do some wrenching on the bike , and I finish what I'm doing, I stand back, lite up a smoke and have a good look around and check everything, (say 5 minutes). Not often, but sometimes , there is a washer there, a screw here , a tool left on the bike etc, . It just forces you to slow down and take stock on everything.

Im not saying everyone should start smoking , but find something that forces you to slow down, check everything calmly and take stock of the situation. Sucking on a lollipop may work. Whatever turns you on !!!!

Guy doing the work should do his final check and then a Second Mech should check as well.
I use this process some times at work when checking A/V gear for faults.

Dealers charge like wounded bulls, you would think they would have system in place to get it right.
