hi all fucking bike im layed up with a work injury and have been periodicly starting the bike now and then.

battery is good starter just clunks but doesnt turn over. i ripped the primary cover off and the starter cog wont retract unless i push it in with hand.

any ideas wtf it could be im feeling exspesive for a new starter motor.........

sorry i should of mentioned its a 2010 softail standerd with 10000ks

are you sure you have a fully charged battery or was it having symptoms before you parked it up ,may pay to put here on charge over night
try again before you rip it out starter should be ok with only 10,000 ks

no tested battery fully charged mate

Have the battery load tested... I bet on a stuffed battery... They can be fully charged but lack the cranking amps. As they can't hold the charge.. and lack the recovery capability..

had battery tested and load test failed, new battery in alls good : )
but have to admit the genuine HD battery in it i only bought over 12 months ago and have used a battery tender on it since new so fucks me.

My battery is the standard one, always have it on tender if not riding it in a week or more, nearly 7 years old which is the best I've had from any vehicle battery fir a long time
