Tried inputting folowing australian postcode into gps: 2536 (for Batemans bay). It blanks out the 5 after I put in the 2, thus locking me out of inputting this (valid Australian) postcode. I have Australia correctly set as the country - Why won't it let me put his postcode in?

I just went into my 'man cave' and tried it. It works for me. It comes up as Catalina, 248kms away, which is correct. Not sure what is going on with your setup.

Where you in the ACT when you tried inputting the Postcode. I have found that inputting addresses is restricted to the state you are physically located, I have not worked out how to change the state.

Hi clackavosticus, I see you live around Batemans Bay, I live Bega way. I go pasts there a lot, we should catch up for a ride. But then again, if you don't fix that GPS up, you may never find me !!! Only joking !!!

What if Batemans Bay doesn't want to be found - did anyone think of that? I rode down there over Easter - great ride from Ulladulla down!

Looks like the system "remembers" your last area selected and narrows down future selections to this area.
I tried to "reset" the system by typing in my country : Australia, and lo and behold I could access postcodes Australia wide!
So if this happens to you, you need to reset the system to the largest possible search area (Country) to see all the postcodes, after setting a postcode.
