I have been looking for a helmet that I can fit the HD headset (speakers and boom mike) but have struggled to find one that has enough room for the speakers. I have a Nolan N44 but the cut outs for the speakers are to small, I also looked at the Nolan NCom but they say it doesn't work with the new HD Boom Box.

Has anyone else had this problem and how have you solved it?

    Thanks

I have a Nolan N43T helmet and purchased a Ncom basic kit with the Harley cable from Nolan.I had trouble getting assistance in Australia so I purchased from the US. I have not gone tothe Ncom blue tooth as yet. I have a very old Ncom blue tooth but have been too busy riding the bike to get involved with the Nacom bluetooth.

The basic kit and cable plug  direct into the Harley dash, music plays both USB and radio and I can hear gps instuctions. My next problem is answering the phone. I have it synced with bluetooth and when the call come in the caller can hear me clearly but i can only just hear them.I have just come back from the shed trying to sort it out but I failed. I will give it another try tommorrow. Good luck

Hoppoz, I am now up to speed with the N44 helmet, great helmets these Nolans but i wish they would only update the models annually. I dont need another new helmet for at least six months. I checked Nolan USA website and they have a Harley basictkit MCS suitable for your N44. I would give Ron Angel in Australia a call as he is the distributor .If no success let me know and i will dig out the paperwork where i got the kit from.

I see in another post that you are waiting for the detachable kit-me too. I have decided to install the aerial kit that goes in the fairing as the other harley kit from my investigation is all about the aerials and I figure that i I dont have to run aerials i may get out of the kit a little cheaper and easier. I will try and install the aerial this coming week as i am off to Cairns on the following monday and can test radio signal. I dont think i will bother with the CB..

I put pipes (not loud) a breather kit and a tuner but the clincher that made all the difference was a dyno..Very smooth.BR Stealth

Another helmet option to fit speakers, intercom and the like is the shoei rj platinum open face helmet. Plenty of room to fit speakers and different sized cheek pads are available to ensure a correct fit.

    Hello forumites.

I've revisited this old thread. As you may or may not be aware, I am now the proud owner of an ultra. The missus bought herself a flip front harley helmet. I'm trying the fit the standard communications boom box headset into it. The earpieces are now tight on her ears. There seems to be a black rubber insert in a circular recess in the foam part of the helmet where the earpiece goes.

My question. Can / should this be removed (seems well and truly glued in there) to make room for the earpieces.

The idea of not being able to speak with her on rides has crossed my mind as an option. She has been very supportive of me getting the bike however. yes

May I also say that I did some internet searching on this topic but couldn't get an answer.

We have HD full face helmets(made by Bell for HD) and had the same problem. The speaker recesses were too small for the hd speakers to fit in properly and protruded a fair bit. The material there was high density polystyrene foam painted black. I simply took to it with a sharp knife and removed enough material so that the speakers fitted into the foam snugly and now are pretty much flush. Worked a treat. Fiddly work though to do a neat job. I've probably voided warranty and broken the rules but I don't believe I have affected helmet integrity at all which is my only concern, apart from now having speakers that don't squash my ears.

I've never used the headsets and I've owned 2 ultras over the past few years. They are still in the box. Can stand the old wired to the bike bit. Too old school for me. Rather use a modern scala setup.

Thanks CB. Thats what I thought.

In the meantime, I've made an adapter cable to I can plug my Bluetooth headset into bike when on ultra.

    Pic of both ends

Pic of pinouts. I just used a Jaycar TRRS plug and stereo DIN cable as a donor which I cut. Cost me about $10
