Originally just thought about the "Fuel Gauge" then opted for the New Speedo assembly instead. Now i have a Fuel gauge, Tacho, Gear Postion indicator, Clock & 2 Trip meters.

The Gear pos. ind. only works when in gear riding.

It can also be opted to be any color you like to match your bike. Dealers were fitting for free when a service was being done, so got this fitted when i purchased the bike.

    Cheers

I think I must have one.

    cheers careyman, appreciate it

My Sporty is an 07 so I will need the fuel sensor, but even with the additional cost I reckon this is good kit.

Never knowing how much fuel I have worries me.

    Again, thanks

    Hey la,

I payed $300odd for the Speedo & the dealer Harley City in Brunswick fitted it for free. The part is in the lastest catalogue. Dealers hand them out & are a good read :-)

Edit: OOps, Didnt see Careyman has given you the electronic version.

    Cheers.

just rang my local dealership and was told NOT to buy the Fuel Level Sensor Kit as it don't work - known fault with this unit gives empty inicator on a full tank, and full indicator on an empty tank ?

he suggested I wait 6-8months until the 2015 parts area available, assuming there will an upgrade to the sensor kit

disappointing cos the main reason for me upgrading the speedo is to give me fuel level and distance to empty

anyone else experienced this 'known fault' with the Fuel Level Sensor Kit or can confirm ?

The one that comes in the bike stock (2008) is a piece of shit (the one that turns the fill light to on).. bit weird them telling you that the current upgrade one is no good tho

I agree with you that this is weird careyman.

I have contacted three HD Dealers - my local in Geelong, one in Melbourne, and two in Sydney.

It appears only my local knows of this issue. The others say they have fitted a number of these sensor kits with no customer complaints.

My problem is that I can source the parts from any of the dealers but would want it fitted by local dealer. I am now thinking maybe its the way they have fitted it ? which doesn't fill me with confidence.

I am trying to get a categoric answer from Harley Davidson Australia (HDA) as to whether they have declared the kit as "faulty" but that is difficult.

    Cheers

I find it highly likely it is an isolated issue with either 1 faulty part that they have got or it was fitted incorrectly. If the entire product line was faulty they would recall it and you would not be able to buy it. If you're still keen on the kit let me know as there is a good chance i can get it at a better price for you.

    G'day T1

Yes I am still keen on the kit.

The prices I have been quoted are $390.80 for the Combination Digital Speedo/Analog Tacho (70900274), and $176.47 for the Fuel Level Sensor Kit (61200008) + postage.

I have had my bike for a about a year & a half now 2013MY & have had no issues.

Well guys Harley-Davidson Australia has confirmed "there is an issue with this part for inaccurate readings; the US are currently working on the issue and will advise ...".

    Bumma !!!!

Many thanks to Braden Beattie of Sy's Harley-Davidson in Campbelltown NSW for following this up for me with HDA.

Looks like I will now wait to see if they get it sorted and offer an updgraded version of the Fuel Sensor Kit  in 2015.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution on this one.

    Cheers
