New Heritage too quiet!

    Hi Guys,

Just bought a 2012 Heritage classic on the weekend, love the bike but really miss that Harley sound! Not a lot of money to throw at it at the moment having just bought the bike, wondering if anyone can suggest the best (cheap)  solution. I don't want over the top as I can do without the cops hasseling me, I was thinking some (used) Screaming Eagle slip ons and I have put a post in parts wanted. If so what else would need changing or can I just swap them over and ride?

My 1200 sporty sounded great with stock pipes and it is hard to get used to this bike being so quiet.

    Thanks

    Peter

    Best or cheap.....two different questions.

If you want cheap....punch the end caps out of the baffles.
If you want best.....you'll get hundreds of different responses.

Im also thinking if your sporty sounded great the mufflers weren't stock.

Second hand slip on mufflers should be reasonably inexpensive and no need to do anything else. Also have a look at rush and cycleshack brand mufflers second hand

S/Eagle Slip On's. Keep your stock muffler's just on the off chance you may need them one day. Take your time and save ( approx $500) for New S/Eagle, unless you can find decent second hand.

I am sure the Sporty did not come Standard with slash cuts..

I had V$H slip ons once... I didn't like the sound at all. Then I tried Rush, much deeper nicer sound not too loud.

I ended up putting on a Bassani road rage and that was the best pipe I've ever run. Wish I still had that softail.

Your bike is obviously a recent US import

It probabaly has "Aussie spec" mufflers , having been put on it to pass RAWS compliance and State rego here in Australia

( I see that ALL THE TIME here in Perth WA )

They ARE too quiet and have catalytic converters in them and will strangle a stock US spec bike

Stock US mufflers were appreciably louder/deeper than the ones we got here AND DO NOT HAVE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS

I have some US spec mufflers I had as "spares" for my departed Softail Custom ( same exact mufflers as yours )

PM me and I'll sell you them and post them to you

That will be your best priced /  " performance" option

If you check the part numbers that are on the mufflers on the bike I'll confirm for you exactly what they are mate

I have a 2010 heritage and I went with S&S tapered slip ons they sound great while keeping the heritage look. I'm really happy with them.

After a couple of experiments, I have ended up with V & H straight shot slip ons, K & N filter and FP3 tuner. All done, happy and can just enjoy riding it (and love the sound of it now!).

    Thanks for all the replies,

    Peter
