open R class

    Hi i have just gotten my open r class and im told the Q ride instructor that  ya have to have the R class for a further 1 year before i can have a pillion passenger???

    Is there any truth to this ?

    that like having a  restriction still , so whats the piont ?

    Yes that's correct. You have to have your R for 12 months before pillion passenger and zero alcohol. Any positive reading if breathalised, no matter how low, will result in loss of license.

    don't risk carrying a pax mate, now the cops have the power they can easy impound your bike for hooning.

    i thought it was RE class that you couldnt  dub on. but im happy to be wrong

    In WA this only applies if you are on P plates. If you have served your probation on any class of vehicle and no longer display P plates ,and then get your RE or subsequent R class; as soon as you are qualified then you have all the entitlement and can carry a pillion.

    in S.A. when I got my bike license, you could carry a pillion only if he/she had a full bike license
    but that was over 30 years ago
