confusion reigns supreme ..have always had a miss/splutter/chuff from rear cyl exhaust at idle and low revs ( no load ) and have tried everything to no avail ..on my 98 FLHT evo screaming eagle ignition . cv carb .true duals .
Decided to check voes operation and noticed when disconnected a. the idle revs drop b. the miss/splutter/chuff dissapears
I may very well be wrong but I assume there is a choice of two advance curves governed by engine revs and the voes switches from one to the other depending on manifold vacumme . so running without a voes switch would be similar to the old mechanical advance unit in that , advance is controlled by revs only .
My problem is there are two different views on which way the switch works .. does it use the advanced curve when disconnected or the retarded curve ?
reason being if its using the retatded curve then its safe to ride without voes .. if its the advaced curve me high comp pistons are gonna fry .
the purple /white wire is the Voes , diconnected is retard mode , ground to earth is normal ADV mode , u can check with a meter by sucking on the hose you should be able to hear it click in & out @ 2 lb pressure , best check timing 1st
