Have just purchased imported 06 softail with vance and hines big shots (no baffles), screaming eagle air filter and vance and hines fuelpak otherwise the bike is stock. My problem is that when i shut the throttle off it sounds like my bike has exhaust brakes, really loud and only stops when the revs drop quite low. I have some quiet baffles coming as the exhaust is excessively loud, will they help with this exhaust brake sound. Its not exhaust popping it just sounds like a trucks exhaust brake. Any thoughts appreciated.
Is it when you let go of the throttle or are you using the engine to slow down by dropping gears? If you're using the engine to slow I'd say just stop it - engines are more expensive to change over than a set of brake pads.
I'd say the baffles should fix your problems though as long as it's mapped/tuned right.
Its both, its even when i shut the throttle to change gears. Thanks bonkerz.
Pipes came with bike and I had a very understanding mechanic do the Blue slip for me.
