    Hi to ALL!!

First post and in need of assistance...I have a 1981 FLH of which I cannot seem to locate the Flasher Can, I have had no blinkers for a few days and still scratching my head.

Ive never really needed electrical work done before and never came with a Manual either.

    Any ideas?

LOL...its in the Headlamp case tucked away. I was looking for a large cylindrical NARVA brand. Its very small and covered with black grease... Pulled it apart last night, thank you!

Changed the flasher can last night also, funny there is only one for the entire system. And now only the right side blink as I hold the button down and the left doesnt blink at all when I hold down the left blinker button on the controls. How do you expalin this one?

Im thinking another Flasher can needs to be found?

    Cheers for the welcome guy's.

Tracing a possible bad earth tonight. Could not find another flasher though...

Trying to find a Manual for my Shovel on Ebay too, but all listings are from the USA. Ive never bought anything outside of Oz.

I reckon your right, I'll be up shit creek for while longer. ThIngs are getting old on my FL

G'Day HDwings, manuals and other stuff availabla for download here:

    http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/mWghPw7P/sharing.html#dir=mWghPw7P

Get a hard copy as KD recommends anyway, but this may bridge the gap.

    Cheers,

    Cris.

    Hi All!
Finally got the electrics sorted last week, thanks for all your advice.
I traced back a bad earth through the back and under the rear gaurd. It must of been nicked by stone's over its life. I have been replacing old crusty wires all this time and finally got finished.

Just on the Oil change on a 81 FLH Shovel...can I put the fresh oil into the top part of the oil can before replacing the inside filter OR pour the fresh oil into the side of the oil can filler hole wich has the oil dip stick side?
Wasnt sure where the new oil was to be poured into...stupid I know, but I thought Id check with you all first.

    Cheers.

I NEED A BLOODY MANUAL! Its just getting silly now...I was just told by Harley City dude I need 4.1 Litres of oilin my 81 FLH Shovel and th HD Development dude tells me to put 3.8 Litres????

Any one can re check this for me before I get a possible overflow?

Thanks mate...I measured up what came out of the Oil tank its approx 2.8 Litres that came out. I guess some remains inside the motor also. I did run the bike for 20 minutes around my hood to heat the oil up for better flow out the oil tank.

The dipstick really isnt the best indicator. It shows very low levels all the time.
Fresh oil and filter going in now...cheers once again.

    Hello All!!
Bloody Melbourne weather has made it almost impossible to ride, not that I mind riding in a little drizzle now and then...but for godsake, who allowed Mums in 4X4's to access our roads. I was almost rear ended on the weekend by a Prado...big F*%$# thing it is too. At a set of lights and she FAILED to brake early enough, skidded then luckily stopped inches and I mean inches from my rear fender. Not the first time in the last 25 years mind you. But I feel its just getting worse. What is all the hurry about? and the mobile phones have just made it all that much more interesting. Anyway, thought Id share that...just venting, sorry Ya'll.

Also...has anyone heard of where I could buy a BADLANDS blinker module? It self cancess after 11 seconds...Im kinda getting tired of holding the blinker button on my switch as Im turning, its not fun anymore...I guess Im getting lazy in my old age.

Cheers, and for god sake, look out for Mum's in 4X4's...this includes my wife too....Hahahaha, Im not kidding.
