    Gday all.

Looking at getting away from the sports bikes (Current a 2012 ZX10r) to do a bit more crusing. Have been wanting to get a HD for about 24 years now, and decided to take a couple for a ride on the weekend. The bike that struck my eye was the new Fat Bob (apart from the rear tail), but they didn't have a demo of that. I was able to ride a Breakout and a Springer CVO. I took the breakout first. Pulling away from the dealership was exactly that, pulling away! talk about tourque!! Riding through town, I could not get the smile off my face, not wanting to break the speed limit at all. That is the instant I was mesmerised by the sound, the the vibration and the all round feel of the bike. I thought, I will be going back and puting a deposit on the bike. As soon as I got out in the open roads, things changed for the worse. It was like driving a boat, wallowing everywhere. I swapped with my mate halfway through the ride. The Springer was not much different, only a bit faster.

Is it worth me taking a Fat Bob for a ride somewhere, or will I be dissapointed with that one as well?

Yes I know that is is a style of riding to get used to, and getting off a bike that is designed for a race track onto a bike that is not, is not a fair comparison. But i think that there is a difference between feeling safe at the speed limit and not.

    Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers,

    Matt.

Welcome . Take the Fat Bob for a test , Dyna Family , will ride very well . If you can handle a little weight , take a Street Glide for a ride yes( very biased view ) .

    Thanks for the welcome guys.
Tim, I have looked at the Street Glide but may be out of the price range.
    Killer, same with the king.

I assume that both ride just as well as the Fatty? I also like the slightly better lean angle!

I've come off sport n dirt bikes mate, have a fat bob n love it although will look at upgrading suspension later on for a bit more confidence in the twisties, heaps different handling compared to the softtails.

Thanks for that, Sherrif. Just got a call from the dealer and he looks to be trading a 2011 fat bob later in the week. So hopefully I'll get to ride one soon.

I found on my 2012 Dyna Wide Glide that the stock front fork springs were to soft so I replaced them with some heavier springs and oil. This was the first thing I done to the bike when I got it. made a big difference to the handling and it was cheap to do which was even better. for other bikes it could be different but for me it helped a lot.
