I sold a 1995 FXSTC about 8 months ago in excellent condition with about 12000 ks on it with a boot load of spares for 13500.00...Mine was an Australian bike but I don't think that makes too much difference any more...

Those 1340 Evos in the US are sooo cheap now you'd be gobsmacked mate

$14k is way too dear in the new Aussie market of today

I sold a 2008 FXSTC Anniversary model , one owner ( me !) and MINT for $20K well over a year ago

2008 looks as good or better than a 1996 and is a WAY better bike in every way , motor ,gearbox, brakes etc etc

Some folks are holding onto the now ancient idea that all Harleys hold their price for ever ( some models "kinda used to" )

A lot of people prefer EVO's to the later models.
Only thing is parts are becoming a little hard to find in Oz.
Heaps of parts in the States.
"Hear no Evo, See no Evo, Speak no EVO "
Thats more directed to Twinkies and beyond now Lol.

Exactly. 10k's $ is on the money these days

Just 4 weeks ago i was askd to " value" a 2000 Roadking , one of the "Sydney olympics " outrider bikes , distinct Blue colour with Olympics decals on the panniers

Bike had 4,300 k's and had been in clean dry open storage ( in an undercroft carpark of a West Perth finance office !) ever since

The owner , a " finance dude " had his Porsche collection there as well

Contact of mine was "looking for a Harley"as they do , and was reccomended to it

The asking price ? Offers over $35 k , and he was " letting it go cheap" at that apparently as it was " special"

Now that's a seller living in the dim and distant past , fuck you can land a CVO of any model line now for way under that !

don't totally disagree with you retro with the way the dollar was and hd droped there prices and how the market is so flooded with bikes at the moment
weather it be a grey or local but I think they will go up a bit maybe in time if hd put there prices back up , what cracks me up are the guys with 2 year old bikes
and want to get every doller that they spent on it back bit like with the older older bikes that want close to the same as a new bike
with most people these days thay just finance a new one keep it a year or so than move on I reckon the same will happen here when ford releases the mustang
older ones will probley drop to unless there something special

A mate of mine scored a Dyna custom from (of all places) flea bay in October last year.  He just watched and waited and saw the bike still there after about 4 weeks and made an offer.  Offer was refused, but my mate just let the guy know it is a cash deal and if he has not sold it in the future call him.  Well, he got the call and scored the bike.

I watch a few bikes on the net and you just see the price drop from month to month.  The market is fairly full at the mo. heaps of grey imports can be had ride away with a bit of warrantee at a good price, its kickin shit out of private guys.  If you really like the bike just wait.  bloody good chance the seller will still have it down the road.  I have a chuckle at those limited edition Olympic bikes, saw one for sale a couple of years ago at some top price, feel like ringing the guy up and informing him the colour is shit and so are the stickers, I'll give ya 10K .
