As a bit of background I'll start by saying that I have an extremely small head (53cm-XS). Due to this I have to take some real time and effort when selecting hats, helmets and sunglasses, as most products make me look  like a complete dick, and I also have real difficulty finding sizes to fit.

What this means for me, is that when most of you guys walk into a shop, choose a poroduct and walk out again, deal done and dusted in 3 minutes flat, I have to go by 20 different frigging stores, and in the end if I find something suitable I know they'll have to order in the product I require, as I'm bound to need a size they dont normally stock.

I recently needed some sunnies to go with my open face helmet. Something to keep the bugs and dust out, also something to prevent my eyes from tearing up in the wind, and also something that doesn't make me look like a blowfly.

My preference was for goggles rathere than sunnies, but something quite small and even a little "out of the ordinary" if possible..

I was recently in Harley Heaven picking up some gear, and the guys behind the counter directed me to the "Uglyfish" range of sunnies, as they believed this company makes something to fit my criteria.

I've used Uglyfish polarised sunglasses before for fishing and boating, and I already knew that Uglyfish are an Australian company (something I like to support) which manufactures a range specifically designed for outdoor and sporting use.

I was introduced to the motorcycle range which included "Cruise, Glide, Rocket, Ultimate" but found them far to large for my small head, until I stumbled upon the "Slim"

The "Slim" was intentionally developed for those with a smaller head, being similar to the other ranges in features, but with a smaller frame and design.

    Uglyfish features include:

-Photochromatic lenses which lighten or darken in accordance to light conditions, making them great for both daytime and nighttime riding.

-Impact resistant polycarbonate lenses which are anti-scratch and anti-fog treated.

-Detachable foam gasket to help seal around the eye

-Detachable arms which allow the use of an interchangable and adjustable strap, converting the sunglasses to goggles.

    -Meeting Auistralian Design Standards

-An optional prescription gasket for those who require prescription lenses.

I'm pretty impressed by these things. They are Australian made, durable, versatile and stylish, while still fitting the criteria of motorcyclists who need something functional.

If you want photochromatics, they aren't cheap (I paid $139 for mine), but there are certainly other lens choices (smoke, grey, clear, yellow) and cheaper alternatives in the range.

For me the price wasn't an issue, as I see a decent product that's gonna provide longlife.

Just wanted to share my findings with the hope it will assist others, and as I'm having trouble uploading a pic, here's a coupla links to the Uglyfish website:

My favorite walking around sunnies are Maui Jim's. The colors seem so much much much better. For riding I still like Fuglies SAS, - and yes I tried uglyfish and wileyx, ess eyewear (nice) and a few others..

Thanks for the quick review. I've got a relatively small head too, and after trying on about 50 pairs of sunnies settled on the Maui Jims too, but these are purely sunnies - everyone I know with Photochromatic (up to the expensive prescription Oakleys) tell me the darkening/lightening function only works for so long before they just stop changing.

So, on the back of your review I've just ordered some Ugly Fish clear glasses, will let you know how I get on with them when they arrive next week.

My UglyFish clear glasses arrived Friday afternoon, just in time for the ride home from work (roughly 35km, ranging from 5kph peak hour to 100kph freeway) - they were fantastic. Almost identical in shape and size to my Maui Jim's once I removed the rubber gasket, they block out all wind and cut quite a lot of reflected light at night.

    Very impressed!
