Afternoon all, I'm having some trouble with my 08 dyna superglide. The speedo and the digital odometer has stopped working. The backlite light is also out. The security management light (the red one on the right of the gauge is working but I think it's flashing a bit faster than norm and isnt as bright. Probably a bit like me. Lol. Has anyone here had the same issue. I have checked fuses and they appear to be good. I have read some info that suggests its the speed sensor, but I'm not sure it is as the gauge light is also dead. Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

My speed sensor went last week. One of the symptoms for me was the speedo and odometer not working. Then the idle control was all over the place and the check engine light illuminated. Netherlands engine error code pointed to the speed sensor but the check engine wont always illuminate for the speed sensor problem.

Check your speedo connections first as the speed sensor shouldn't ordinarily effect your back light unless this went out coincidentally at the same time. Could be other electrics.

Haha spook, I'm with you ATM. Fatbat cheers for that, I have checked the plug, seems to be on there pretty good, can't get me fat hands in good enough to pull it out.  Had a crack at the Allen key bolt but I need to acquire a ratchet model to do it. Hopefully a mate will have something. If not I'll just have to buy a set

do the indicators work? had trouble like that today . cleaned the fuse ends with sandpaper and working now

Speed sensor can also cause your indicators to stop self cancelling

I checked for power up at the guage, Have three power sources, two orange and one brown wire (battery). So im a bit perplexed now, will investigate more this arvo.

Yeah Steve, the indicators work. The things that dont are the speedo, odo, six gear light, the guage light. I'll give the fuses a clean (i only scraped them with finger nails last time),

Fatbat, i reckon your on the money with the sensor, all roads lead to rome as they say.

Missing 6th gear indicator is another symptom of fault speed sensor too. Forgot that one..)
