Just joined the HD forum a few minutes ago after reading about some of the Draconian laws in Australia as pertains to motorcycles.

My wife and I will be moving to Queensland this year (she is an Australian citizen)  and I will be shipping my 2005 FXDXI and my 2003 FLHTCI in a container with our household goods. Our kids are already there in graduate schgool.

I understand I will have to have new tires put on, head light adjusted and what else-------Is there a good honest reliable shop in the Brisbane (Sunshine Coast) area  that knows enough to check the speedo sensor switch for filings and not just the drain plug or do I have to go through Morgan= Wacker?

I want to find out more about these regulations so if somebody could point me in the right direction before I get busted there for taking my foot off the pegs.-----Does this mean the cops will give me a ticket for using my highway pegs or I can't tighten up my chin strap at a traffic light?

I watched the video with the gentleman in the gas station being kept company by about 10 cops---- do I have this to look forward to just because I have a leather vest on with some patches (no rockers or club affiliation) and ride a motorcycle.

I live'd in Queensland in the '70s for a couple of years and speaking generalities the saying was "cross the border into Queensland and set your watch back 40 years" I hope things have changed, because I,m looking forward to living there again.

If  "Sanyasi" sounds vaguely  familiar I 'm a freelance photo journalist and I had three tours published in "American Iron Magazine" in 2012 and another three in 2013. A trip through the Grand canyon country will be out this year.

I carry this card in my wallet and it is British Common Law-----

Officer, if I am under arrest or being detained, please tell me so. If I am free to go, please tell me so. If I am not free to go, please tell me why. I wish to exercise all my legal rights including my right to silence and my right to speak to an attorney before I say anything to you. I do not consent to be searched. I wish to be released with out delay. Please do not ask me questions, because I will not willingly talk to you until I speak to a lawyer.---Thank you for respecting my rights.

    SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

In Canada---but probably Australia as well----I can refuse to talk to police or answer their questions, unless I am in a bar, driving a car, or they say I broke the law. In those cases, I must give my name, birthdate and address, or show my ID, I do not have to say any more.

I have never used this ,but I still carry it in my wallet. You have the right to know a police officers name and badge number and I can report any police officer who violates my rights!

As the saying goes "first they came for the teachers and I said nothing" then they came for--------- and I said nothing------ then the came for--------and I said nothing and when they came for me there was nobody left to protect me!

Thank you----- The Dyna super glide in mho was one of the best bikes harley ever made. It took me two years to find the super glide sport with low mileage because nobody wanted to sell theirs.

Sounds good----yes I can be hired. I think your in Alberta,am I correct? I've written about the east coast of Vancouver Island and "The Road To Nakusp" in the Kootenays. If we are still in Canada I'll be doing the "Hot Spring Circle Route" through the Rockies this year.

Thank you for the welcome---------please give an ignorant Canadian the translation for "Queensland crew" . Is this the same as "the boys in blue"?

    G'day & Welcome.

I think what Tim S.G meant by the "Queensland Crew" was that the members of the Forum that live in the State of Queensland would be able to give you a heads-up on that States laws.
