I wonder if someone can help me? I have just had my 1200 sporty serviced, 8,000k's, and the idle is playing up. After reading about the IAC on this forum I thought that it might be the problem. I asked them to look at it and they said that there were no error codes and it seemed to operating fine. I drove home through the city and it was running fine until I started to sit on a constant speed, 60k's, when it started to occur again, only this time worse, it would idle really high and would only come down when the bike was at a stand still. Do I just go and replace the IAC and hope that this was the problem or what.

Let me know how you go Chriso. You can clean the IAC, if that doesn't work replace it.
Do you have a race tuner?

I had a similar issue with my Sporty. Just got worse and I replaced the IAC just recently. Fixed the problem.

Spoke to the dealer about this and it appears to be more common than not.
They have taken note of it and placed the complaint into my records - and asked if I can come in as it's doing it then all is sweet - replace on warranty.
As it's pretty random at the moment, next time it does it I will use the iPhone's recording features to capture the evidence.

I know this thread is old but thought i'd share my experience as the IAC on my fatboy played up recently.
At first i thought it may be a fuel pressure issue as it seemed to stumble and then stall now and then after starting up following a re-fuel or short stop. I would restart it & then all good however over the last week noticed the idle going up & down abnormally and the throttle response off idle seemed a bit lagging.
I took off the air cleaner and sprayed CRC MAF Cleaner up the IAC hole & wiped clean with a cotton bud and cycled the ignition a few times which also pushed out more crud.. The crud seemed consistent with the oil on the K&N filter I installed about 2 months ago.
Since cleaning the idle is very smooth and consistent pus the throttle off idle is the way it should be (no hesitation)
Possibly a coincidence with the new filter installation(brand new filter) possibly overoiled?) but it's something I'd always clean on my cars so figured I will do the same with the bike from now on.
Whilst there I checked the butterfly however that was shiny and clean on both sides but sprayed cleaner on a rag and gave it a wipe as well....cant hurt!
