I wanted Amber Whiskey but I'm being told that at the moment they can only get black.

Geoff . notice from your Avatar , you have a switchback , just wondering why the change , is it the looks , the way they handle , or you just feel the need for a change .. i'm not a very observant type of guy and to me strip the switchback down and you have a very similar bike . . I've not rode any of them , be keen to hear the difference if any .

    There are a few reasons.

The main reason is they way I'm using the bike. When I bought the Switchback I was expecting to be doing more long/weekend trips (but I'm doing more day/half-day rides) so I don't need the luggage (yes I know it comes off but If I'm going to have a more stripped down bike then I prefer the Low Rider/Super Glide style to the retro FL look).

Secondly even if I was to do some longer trips (and I've got a 3 day trip next weekend up to Jindabyne) then despite the look of the bike it still isn't really a tourer, it's got short travel rear suspension and vibrates more than the tourers.

The third reason is while I like most things about the switchback I find the front brakes barely adequate and most of the options to fit dual disks to single disk Dynas aren't an option because of the rather unique Switchback front end (and I doubt a different caliper is going to fix the problem). Where as the Low Rider is one of the few Harleys to come standard with dual front disks.

The fourth reason is that the screen creates a lot of buffeting (maybe that's my height) but it does and it's annoying (yeah I can remove the screen and I do but again if I'm going to run a bike without a screen then I prefer a different style.

If I was to buy a more touring bike then I'd probably buy a Street Glide but since I'm doing more short rides I think I'm better off with a sort of 'sportster on steroids' type bike which the Low Glide comes pretty close to being.

And besides as a teenager in the 70's I used to drool over Super Glides and Low Riders, to me they just 'look right' *shrug*.

I dunno if any of that makes much sense to anybody else but that's my thinking (for what it's worth).

And it makes perfect sence to me ,, In fact  wish i could of thought of it all myself , but i did'nt ,, you did , so you get the credit ..  Quite like your summary , a sporty on steroids , ,  and for  less money than the difference in  price  you can buy  a rack and some qr bags .  Yep  all makes perfect sence to me .

    Hi Guys,

Just picked up a my new 2015 Low Rider in the Balckmagic colour.

Love the bike and the adjustability of it.

Having a short inseam the slightly forward mid mounts are perfect for me and the adjustable risers help bring back the bars to the right position.

The new 1690 engine has plenty of grunt,

had the stage 1 super tuner kit put in with the Big Radius staggered Vance and Hines pipes and Screamin Eagle Filter but left the Standard cover on so it looks stock.

Other accessories are the quick release Sissybar with Rack and front Windscreen.

Although I am still running the engine in (240Klm's),

I can already tell it is alot quicker than the Demo I tested.

Since I picked it up I have lowered the rear 1 inch and dropped the front 15mm,

have installed mini running boards front and rear, mirror indicator lenses, chrome controls, chrome indicator buttons, Magnum grips and hard wired a trickle charger lead direct to the battery.

Still waiting for my Handmade Side bag to arrive and I will probably get a Solo Seat when I find a seat I like and a pair of progressive shocks as well.

So far I love this bike and everything about it,

it handles great even with my missus on the back you don't even notice any change in power.

Over all if your are thinking about buying a Low Rider,

do yourself a favour and test ride one.

    Cheers

    Moz

Very nice BlackMagic! I haven't seen that colour before.

I regret to say that I've been forced to put off my update until next year, we had unexpected house expenses that ran well past budget and the bike is a luxury and plumbing isn't :-/

    Very nice looking colour.

What are the mirror indicator lenses that you have fitted? Any photos?

Thanks for the photos. Not what I imagined.

I do like that they light up around the circumference. Must be great on a dull day or at night.

I love the Low rider. My old Man had a 79 back in the day. Used to drop me at school on the back. I have a special soft spot for the silver and black/or is it Burgundy?
I took a LR for a test ride. I left my SERT at home when I dropped my bike in for its last service.
Borrows this low rider. to go home and get it.
Liked: Tacho, didn't like: Skinny bars. didn't suit me at all after my wide glide bars.. footpegs made me feel like my knees were up around my ass. Too short for me.
Great bike ., particularly if you are after a big twin and are a bit of a short ass.
