I was pretty close to saying yes to the demo and the dealer did say that someone else was interested in it when I was looking at it but I thought this was standard sales talk for 'don't let the sucker out the door'. turns out the sales guy was telling the truth, who'd have thunk it.

Guess I'll have to make my mind up quicker next time (or order a new one in).

Buying a demo model .. Not sure i would do it ,, suppose it depends on the klm and when its sold .. 3 months old maybee 2-300  klm . maybee i would , demo for 6-7 months and 3-4-5000 klm ... no way , bet your life its been thrashed , .

Plus for me its not a new bike , its been rode by numerous people , so its secondhand , , and that should reflect in the price , AND IT DOES'NT , so what if its got a grand 1500 dollars knocked off . If i bought a similar low mileage bike private i would want more than a grand off the price .

Now this low rider , i like it seen one sat on it and got to say it fit me like a glove , Its the only Harley that i could buy and not have to make it fit me , all the others , i'd have to change bars , or pegs , add passenger pegs , change seat , do something ,, this thing right out the box fits only thing i would have to do is Q.R backrest for the wife ,Q.R bags for travelling , slip ons , and away you go , other than that ,, its all cosmetic and where you stop is personal .

I was quoted $25,630.00 ride away for a new bike (in Amber Whiskey which adds a few hundred $ for the colour), the demo was $20,990.

Even allowing for the paint cost that's a saving of over $4000 (well it would have been if I'd been quick enough!).

We must have similar taste in riding positions, because the first thing I thought when I sat on the low rider was 'this fits'.

I've always wanted to change something about the seating position or the pegs or the bars on other bikes but not this one, all I'd do is give is some more noise (the stock exhaust is way too quiet).

What extras has it got for $25630 has far has i know the price on them is $23500 ,,, But for $21,000 with only 2oo klm . i would of bought it .. One thing i've noticed over the years is when the manufactureres or dealers put out a bike ANY bike at cheapish prices they go quick .

Remember a couple of years ago the st honda were 22 grand , they could'nt sell them it was 2013 and they still had 2010 models left .. Honda dropped the price for a clearance to 17 grand ,, when i found out , i run to the dealers , i wanted one for my touring bike , only to be told they had been snapped up and sold out within 2 weeks , i missed out by a couple of days .. Today i went into a dealer and he had a 2010 , tenere with a couple thousand klm on and lots of extras .. I spotted it , and asked the salesmen how much ,, he said 14 grand ,, No messing about i said i'll have it ... Only to be informed its sold , he said he traded it , and put it up and sold it within 4 hours ..

He did say i think i sold it too cheap ,, i said no you did'nt you made money , gave someone a good deal and they will be back , put the price up to 16-17 it may not off sold .

Goes to show if things are priced right they will sell .

    Thanks for the heads up!

The extras are all things that I'd either do (if I had the spare $) or don't mind having been done and I've submitted a response via Bike Sales (on sunday arvo) to the dealer.

They emailed me on Sunday and said they'd ring but haven't, I'll try calling them tomorrow.

As for the 349km do you suspect them of fitting another speedo (to reset the odo reading)?

I hadn't thought of that to be honest...

+1 on tyres every time. Should still be new with coloured stripes around tread and rubber tits.

( p.s. A mate of mine was looking at a bike and took me along to look as he knew little about bikes in general. It only had 4500 ks on the speedo but the front tyre was worn out and the back was near new. Didn't take a genius to work out something smelt fishy, and it wasn't his missus!)

Not only do they look good, they feel good too...bought an amber whiskey fxdl 3 weeks ago..brilliant. Put on a screamin eagle  nightstick muffler, not bad but will go for staggered big shots soon

Hi, HarleyGeelong have a Low rider fitted with forwards as a demo. I sat on it and had a big issue. I have short legs and welcomed the fully adjustable nature of the bike.......bars, risers and seat. And that the standard pegs are a few inches further forward than my 04 Super  Glide. But with the forwards fitted, I could put hardly any of my foot on the right hand side peg due to the airfilter box pushing my knee to far out. Effectively, it would have been difficult to ride and almost impossible to use the rear brake.

This may not be a problem for all, but I think that the air filter would have to be changed out regardless. Just make sure you give it a try before you buy.

forward controls are useless on some models. I have mid mounts and highway pegs on the low rider and find them perfect. maybe you should ride a demo with mid mounts

Well Geoff ,, You said you got it , wheres the report or you still out riding . More i think about this low rider the more i think it was made for me , i got shorty leg syndrome has well , I really like the Fat bob , but it just does'nt fit me and if i spend to make it fit , i'm not getting what i like . My concern about this low rider is scraping , I love riding the Adelaide hills , and i love the long rides to Victoria i do often , some great roads there . .

Love to hear the reviews of people who actually own them has opposed to writers working for magazines which harley advertize in . Missis has said her peice about me buying a new bike , which included your not having 3 bikes get rid of one first , and then ,,, yOU'VE GOT 2 BIKES YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE , said in a screaching manner . , i patiently , listened , i took on board what she has said . and i gave her my answer , fuck off its my money i'll do what i want with it . .

Off course she dutifuly reminded me that its half hers , and a good lawyer would probably get her a 70-30 split ... HER WAY .. , but she will be quite happy to concede a man needs 3 bikes , and if i really don't want to sell one of my other bikes , and want to buy a third .

She said it can be arranged quite easilly , we will settle it the Indonesian way ,, A BRIBE ,, yes the bitch is willing to settle for a bribe in the form of a new car .. I suggested , she sells her car , i give her my car and i buy meself a new ute has well then everyones happy .. No Good the bitch wants a new focus ,. I went to my sons and said i need a little help here , your mams gone troppo , they said ,, wondered how long it would take , your on you own .

So i'm doing what most men would do , i'm fucking off to the beer fridge in the shed to have a good think about it for a couple of weeks . in the meantime , i'm looking for any articles i can find about the new low rider , and wether or not its wotth , paying out a bribe , or perhaps getting rid of one or both my bikes to buy it .

Waiting for your report Geoff it could save a marraige .

I didn't get the 2nd hand one in Melbourne guys, I've decided to get a new one from the local dealer (even though the price is higher) but that will mean a wait of a few months for the color I want.
