I reckon they look best with the original rear guard and 2 into 1 exhaust. YMMV.

Looks good bud. If the bike has been sitting for a number of years, you may find quite a few seals have perished. Give your primary, gearbox and clutch plates a solid look over. You will know more once she is back up and running. Don't forget a drip tray for the garage/shed.....Keep the photos coming. PS. There is a Shovelhead forum that will provide a bucket load of info www.shovelheadus.com. Quite a few aussies on there as well. Go the shovels.

    good m8 respect u.

if John T did the bottom end u know its done right but they don't last forever. i did 1 million k's on my shovel was a little bit older than that one i sold it to a mate & still going well, he still does long runs on it. for every two top end rebuilds you need a new bottom end rebuild. i had a evo style bandit clutch velva touch hydralic lifters , they are all still on or in the bike & it can stilk do 1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds @ 113mph & still get you Sydney to Bundy & back not turning a spanner & got same fuel economy as m8's new fat boy 6speed EFI but blows the fatty right off 98 inchtock shovel heads Cow built the motor .

good luck with it. also no leaks from my ex shovel , better put oil pressure gauge on her, when u first start check it has oressure tey only need bugger all ressure but they do need oil so just use one to check every now and then

thanks for that krash your rite anything mechanical is prone to break downs but this ol girl hasnt had much love in last 20 years so i figured she was over due for it plus if she was rebuilt she would least have some relaibilty time will tell on that one

your right there rasigs, but i know if John t did the bottom end you know it's better than new off factory floor. another problem area was the regulator, i think its due to the old style starter they use draws a lot of power from battery, regulator gets hot from working to put the power back into battery, the new bikes have a better starter, i went kick start only & no more problems. my mate did not like kick starting so went to a late model electric start but think was a lot of buggering around. put a new AGM battery in same as new HD's run & keep your eye on it to make sure it's on full charge & should be right.

    good ridding to u
