These guys show that counter steering works at low speed with high wheel speed.  I want to see that street glide drifting next forum ride.  Skip to the 3 minute mark to cut through the crap:

not really Tim but i was waiting at a red light one day (5 different roads) and it turned green so i took off. i was giving it a squeeze and looked over to my right (diagonally) and a 3 tonner work truck must have ran a red light cos we were both halfway through the intersection and i thought i was fucked. i ducked the bike to the left and hammered it and watched the trucks bullbar missing me by fuck all. i pulled up at the next set of lights and a bloke on a sporty pulled up beside me and told me he was behind me when it happened and the truck missed the back of my bike by less than an inch. i think it is instinctive when something like that happens. experience helps too. scientific formulations dont help in that moment. personally, i dont give counter steering a thought because its called motorcycling

So , if I was on a bike doing a slow race , reckon if I wanted to turn left or right ,  I would not countersteer .

of course you would countersteer. you do it every time you take your bike out. even if you dont know you're doing it.

keep pushing your bike around in the shed tim, then you wont have to think about it. how big is the shed? can you push it fast enough to get your feet on the pegs, even for a short while?

didnt i just say that? no?yes? ask the darkie, he will keep you right about who said what. and in which chronological order. he might even be help you out with a set of training wheels and a calculator. ( for all the scientific stuff you obviously need to know).

Not sure about the tape measure and calculator, but if you're riding slow enough, not to counter stear you're doing it wrong.

I think when your turning at low speed you use a bit of turning the bars and coutersteering. What you see the coppas doing is tipping the bike into the turn, whilst providing a counter weight with their body by staying vertical whilst the bike is tipped and weighting the outside peg. This technique, as I'm sure many who have ridden trail or motocross bikes would know, is used on off cambered flat turns to avoid the rear end washing out/Sliding.

To answer your question, it will be different with every bike and rider, go find a parking lot and practice riding smoothly through some slalom stye marks on the ground, it will become instinctive. Hope this helps.

I think we have to remember the different between counter balancing and counter steering once you get to really low speeds
