Good on you Oz Nightrain, You went in , got in a bit deeper than you thought, but came out the other end knowing more about your bike than you ever thought you would.
You mentioned that you had starter trouble, what was the end result there ???? Cheers

Put a new clutch in the starter. I thought maybe solenoid too because it wouldnt retract in the bike but it bench tested fine so i took a gamble and put it back together and it works better than ever. Someone mentioned about it needing the guide bushing in the primary cover to work properly and that must have been it. I also cleaned and greased all electrical contacts there were some pretty dirty ones, that may have helped too.

Just had a look back, it was Speedzter that told me that (thanks mate) It was all those little tips that really got me through this.

Went for the first data collecting run today. I was amazed at how many cells I missed. O well I guess it will be a slow process. What I'm wondering now is, how do you tell how well the O2 sensors are working? I assume that because I was able to collect data and change VE tables that the sensors are working, but how well in relation to their position, angle and depth etc. is what I'm not sure on. Is it even possible to tell how 'well' they work?

After that first data run I got my old P1353 & 1356 no combustion codes again plus P0151 rear O2 sensor low/lean. Merged the VE tables and reflashed. Went out again today to collect more data and the O2 sensor code didn't come back, but I just can't shake the no combustion codes. Merged and reflashed again ready for the next data run. The only difference is the CEL doesn't come on with those codes anymore. Does that mean as the VE tables get closer to being right the CEL doesn't appear and in time the codes will disappear once it has a decent tune in it??? I know I'm clutching at straws now but I'm starting to run out of ideas. Cheers, Matt.

I used to have after market ignition but since the codes started im back to stock coils, leads and plugs. Leads and plugs have only done about 500 ks. I always wait for engine and security light to go out before starting every time. As for running lean, i thought the smart tune VE tables sort that out. Not really sure what u mean by 'full' smart tune??

Ok i think im with ya now. If u meant am i smart tuning or just adjusting AFRs manually, the answer would be smart tuning. This latest lot of codes came up when there was only data from 1 run merged into the map while gathering the 2nd lot of data. Now the 2nd data run has been merged into the VE tables but i haven't had a chance to test it and see if i still get the codes. Cheers, Matt.

Ok sorry i think i was typing when u put that answer up. I didnt know i could change those things so i guess i was just leaving it up to the tuner without knowing any better. Thanks mate.

I think I'm gunna have to read through the sepst manual again, its like a f*****g novel that thing. So when I reflash i check the smart tune box and reset adaptive fuel box. Should I leave the smart tune box unchecked and turn it on a different way?

Dunno if this helps or not. This is the working afr table without 'enable smart tune' selected. I haven't look at what changes when it is selected.
