O2 sensors

    Hey guys I'm just wondering if anyone knows how precise you have be with the positioning of O2 sensors when welding the bungs in? The bike is an 06 NT and I want to install sensors to do closed loop tuning but theres not much info out there! I also need to know if I should use the straight bungs or the 45 degree ones? If anyone has done this before I would love to get some ideas. Thanks, Matt.

    The exhaust I have is a Freedom 2-1 union which turned up with the front o2 bung set at about 350mm which is miles out so instead of sending it back I sorted it out myself.

    I went to a local exhaust shop and brought one straight bung and fitted it at approx 100mm down from the flange, I seem to recall that it's okay between 100mm-150mm but I can't find the info now. The straight bung worked okay but I think the 45 degree ones would be better, also you want the ones with plenty of meat (metal) to make it easier to weld to the pipe.

    Thanks Hilly ur a champion. Ive been searching the net all arvo and came up with nothing. The sensors are on order I just gotta find some bungs and get em welded in. Thanks again mate!!

    Wow I wish I had saw that thread before I did mine Hilly, can't beat lots of good photos!

    Matt any exhaust (car) shop will have the bungs for o2 sensors.

    Ok thanks CH. Went to Midas today and they only had mild steel ones. But I just found a custom motor bike exhaust shop not too far from home so I might take the pipes down there 2moro and see what they can do! Thanks guys.

    Does anyone know if 80 mm from the flange is ok, coz 100 mil lands it right on the heat shield hose clamp??

    I also just found out the sensors i ordered using TTS tuning guide part numbers are narrow band, should i be using wide band???

    Matt are you retro fitting o2 sensors or replacing them?

    I did a retro fit on my 06 Deuce and use a TTS tuner but I can't remember if they were narrow or wide band. The part number though is HD27719-07, maybe ring a HD dealer and ask if this part number is for the narrow or wide band sensors.

    I'm pretty sure you will be okay with 80mm as I was talking with a mate and he said as long as they are within 120mm then the reading will be fine and he has forgotten more than I will ever know about HD's. Again a good dealership will be able to answer this.

    Thanks again CH. The p/n im using is 27683-06 and it is a retro fit. They are nb im just not sure if wb would be better with a SEPST.

    I just had a look and ur part number is for the same nb sensor just a shorter lead. Did the narrow band work for u ?  Thanks again.

    Yes no problems at all, Matt. The good thing with the TTS is that you will be able to check the tuner is reading the o2 sensors as soon as you hook it all up.

    Has anyone on here ever done the wiring side of the sensors into the ecm? Ive got all my parts and i know which pins i need to go into, but i was expecting to find them empty but they have wires in them already and i dont know if i should remove those wires or just tap into them. I dont know what they are connected to. Please help!!!

    All 3 have a plain black wire and i cant find any plugs tucked away anywhere. Ive got new ecm pins and the wires are plenty long enough i just dont want go ripping wires out then find out something else has stopped working

    If pins 8 and 23 are only for O2 sensors, by that i mean they wont run anything else then i would think its ok to pull out and replace with my new wires and pins.

    This is a pic from the manual showing pins 8 & 23 should b empty, along with about a dozen others. But my ecm has a wire on every single pin.

    I wired mine in on a 05 Fatty. #8 Front sensor, #23 Rear Sensor, #26 Earth. No problems.

    CartoonHead & I done his last year on his 06 Duece no problem either.

    If it helps I can take a photo of mine so you can compare wiring.

    Well im done. Now the fucking piece of shit wont even start. Ive triple checked everything. Wires to the right pins, ecm back out and no pins pushed back in. Got codes the first time i tried to start it. No combustion front and rear, loss of serial data and front and rear o2 sensors open or not responding. At least it recognises the sensors are there. I even tried splicing the old wires back into new o2 wires an still nothing. And it doesnt sound like no spark or similar the cranking is hard and doesnt sound good at all. Battery is good and i went apeshit with the dielectric grease!!!

    Its got a SE pro super tuner which i had put by a dealer coz they told me it had no after market fuel management
