    Hi Everyone,

Very new to the HD world, i have been a jap bike man quite a few years (Still got my CBR) and now i'm dabbling in the cruiser world - and loving it. best move i've ever made. Anywho, i recently purchased a 2013 iron 883, it currently has screamin eagle slip on pipes and i have just purchased a screamin eagle heavy breather pod air filter. i havent fitted the pod yet as i was told by fraser motorcycles that i cant run the pod and pipes without the screamin eagle street tuner cpu as the bike will run too lean and burn the headers - defs dont want that happening... so the dude told me it would cost me $580! plus $150 labour to fit both the filter and cpu and map the bike. I just spent $332 on the filter and dont really want to pay that much for the CPU! I have read a few forums and there is mention of a XIEDs plug and play connection which apparently tricks the bike into running at richer fuel to air ration (excuse my ignorance if im not saying it all correctly), this will cost me about $200 and i can fit the air filter and XIEDs myself.

Basically my question is: Should i get the XIEDs? will it give me a power increase? and am i in danger of hurting the engine with this XIEDs? i am all about quality, but everyone is on a budget these days so i'm after a cheaper alternative that doesnt threaten to hurt the engine. I would like to fit it all myself, so if someone could give me a few tips, insight or advice it would be greatly appreciated.

I can imagine this question has been raised before so if you can add a link to other forum topics that would be great also.

Look forward to everyones response !

    Cheers, Pez..

ps - i lowered the iron with 10.5 inch burley slammers - it looks unreal and i highly recommend it !

Simple answer is yes, if you go with just pipes or just air filter then the Xied's are okay but not both.

It may be frustrating as you have paid out good money for the air filter but you really need to make sure you don't just risk it by putting it on until you pay your Harley tax.

Personally I prefer the TTS tuner but there are plenty of good tuners out there.

fooling the sensors using Xieds is an old school trick we used to do from the late 80's early 90's. With all the technology we have today why would you bother? Buy a tuner and do it the right way. You just spent how much on your bike and you want to use a $20 part to "tune it near enough" ???

    Pez,

I went the TTS with my Iron.
Easy to use but think they may be a tad more exy than SE. Mine cost AU$600 including cables and freight.
